mike304 Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Hey guys, I like using hollow body frogs(I love topwater) and I was just wondering what everyone's favorite is? So far I like the Spro Bronzeye, but i recently bought a Deps Basiriski and a snagproof tournament series , however I haven't had time to try them. I tried to get a Reaction Innovations Swamp Donkey, but apparently they are out of production until next year. Quote
Steven Ladner Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Another vote for the Spro Bronzeye, it's the best I have used so far. Quote
BenoBreath Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Spro Bronzeyes are second to none Bass Wrangler: What's your rod, reel, line setup for fishing the Bronzeye ? If you don't mind me asking ? Thanks, BB Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted June 8, 2009 Super User Posted June 8, 2009 Spro Bronzeyes are second to none Bass Wrangler: What's your rod, reel, line setup for fishing the Bronzeye ? If you don't mind me asking ? Thanks, BB I vote for the SPRO as well. My setup that I was throwing last weekend was a M/H (more like heavy) action rod, 50lb braid and a Revo S-L Quote
Furbit Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 For years I have been throwing the Scum Frog Popper. Even with it's issues of being very light, making it hard to cast, and landing upside down a lot of the time, I could not argue with it's fish producing ways, it flat out produces, and therefor I have dealt with the issues. However, thanks to Spro and Dean Rojas, the Spro Popper is by far my favorite frog I have ever thrown. I have been throwing frogs for years and have tried just about all of them and this new Spro just blows them all away. It cast great even into the wind, walks with ease, is durable and the hook up ratio is outstanding. It be Spro for me! Quote
Chris W Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Swamp Donkeys are the best by far the Sumo is 2nd best. Quote
90x Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 this is not a hollow frog, but the banjo minnow frog rules all. I have been telling people this but no one believes me. try it out and you will have awesome results. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted June 8, 2009 Super User Posted June 8, 2009 Bobby's Perfect Frog. uh huh Quote

Thanks, BB I use a curado 201e7 loaded with 50lb powerpro on an loomis IMX904. I use this setup for flipping as well. Quote
mike304 Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 thanks for the feedback guys. Does anyone out there modify their frogs at all? I've talked to guys that have put rattles in the body, filled the holes with silicon to keep water out, bent the hooks out and up, and 1 guy cuts a slit between the eyes to allow it to collapse easier. Super User CWB Posted June 9, 2009 Super User Posted June 9, 2009 Spro Bronzeyes are second to none Except Snagproofs Bobby's Perfect Frog. Casts farther, softer body for better hookups and Not $10.00 a pop. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted June 10, 2009 Super User Posted June 10, 2009 this is not a hollow frog, but the banjo minnow frog rules all. I have been telling people this but no one believes me. try it out and you will have awesome results. The banjo frog has fantastic action for slow rollin' under the surface. What type of hook do you use with it? Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted June 10, 2009 Super User Posted June 10, 2009 Spro bronzeye frog, spro bronzeye popper, and the scumfrog popper. For most work I prefer poppin' frogs. Quote
bassin is addicting Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Except Snagproofs Bobby's Perfect Frog. Casts farther, softer body for better hookups and Not $10.00 a pop. X2 and the scum frogs aren't bad for the money either. have caught many on just the basic $3.29 one. Quote
bigfish88 Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Spro Bronzeyes are second to none yessss sir!! Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted June 11, 2009 Super User Posted June 11, 2009 When do you guys think a regular frog is a better choice than a popping frog? Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted June 11, 2009 Super User Posted June 11, 2009 this frog is really a soft plastic frog but is does have a hollow body , the CANYON PLASTICS 4.5'' frog is the best frog ever !!!! i have recently been posting about the RAGE TAIL TOAD as being the top frog but the canyon plastics frog is a little heavier so you can cast alot farther , it has a pointy nose so that when you pause it , it wil sink and then you can twitch it like a fluke and get some super action !! you also can run it real slow cause it has slim legs that move good with not much speed . i used to use these years ago , i got them from a tackle store that has since went out of buissness , so when i went to a tackle shop that i haven't been to before i only grabbed three packs , and four packs of rage tail toads , needless to say i'm gonna keep two packs of rage tails but return the other two and get more ( all they have ) of the canyon plastics frogs . so long story short , if you love frog fishing like i do , give these a try , i swear you will LOVE THEM !!!!! 8-)here is the link for them - http://www.***.com/descpageFROGSCP-CPF.html Quote
