My names Shawn (obviously from the user name haha)

I'm from Massachusetts just south of Boston and recently got more into fishing. I use to fish a lot as a kid but kind of stopped having the time to go. A friend rekindled the love for reeling in a nice bass.

For a while I've used a Shakespeare Spinning combo I got as a kit from an uncle. I like the reel but the rod is flimsy and never ventured into "bobberless" styles until recently.

Last weekend I picked up my first Baitcaster from the local Bass Pro and it's a pain to learn but when it feels right it's one hell of a cast. Some backlash here and there but I'm slowing picking it up and understanding more of this "educated thumb" mumbo jumbo haha. Luckily I have had a good friend help me with the massive birds nest I've created on occasions. With that I'm using a 20 pound power pro braid. Caught my first bass with it on the second day at around 15/16 inches (with a Wacky rig and Senkos) only catch of the day but it was worth it.

It's good fun and I'm glad to be enjoying it again.
