Aaron Smith Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 After doing some research I am going to purchase my first baitcasting rod/reel combo.. I have been a spinner fisherman for some time just fishing small streams and rivers for trout and want to start doing some bass fishing.. here is my idea for first rod/reel combo, I am trying to go for something that will be versatile for many types of fishing such as spinner/crankbait as well as jigging, let me know if this looks good for someone starting off and in the low to mid-range price area. shimano citica reel CI201E - 6.3 gear ratio - 27 IPT 6'6" Quantum tour edition PT series PTC666F - Power: MH Action: Fast Any advice, things to look for when selecting, etc would be appreciated, thanks! guitarkid Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Get the lefty citica, it is considerably easier to go from spinning only to casting. Overall, it looks like a good solid workhorse set up. -gk Quote
