Scorcher214 Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I only have 4 rod/reels and never worried about pairing up the comobs to make it so they balance correctly. Since I order my stuff online, I never get to feel it before I buy it. On BPS.com, they have a rod balancing system for 10 bucks a piece. Usually, I don't buy from BPS due to their shipping but, if it makes a huge difference in feel and sensitivity, perhaps I will. Any input fellas? Quote
Super User islandbass Posted May 28, 2011 Super User Posted May 28, 2011 Check out this thread for some insight about whether you would want to "balance" your rig or not. I learned a lot from it. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 28, 2011 Super User Posted May 28, 2011 Most of my equipment is heavier than standard bass gear, I'm so used to it I don't give it a thought. So when I take out my bass gear it feels so light, it's very comfortable to fish with for hours. Quote
Fat-G Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 More important than how light it is, at least for me! Quote
SausageFingers Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I had never given it much thought until I bought a Revo SX and paired it with a Vendetta. The difference with a light, balanced set up is very noticeable. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted May 28, 2011 Super User Posted May 28, 2011 As far as weight distribution type of balance it's not that important, most all rack rods are tip heavy (no matter whats mounted). But when it comes down to balance of the system (properly lined reel, mounted to the proper rod with the right power/action, line and lure) now that is very important... Super User dodgeguy Posted May 28, 2011 Super User Posted May 28, 2011 ibalance all my rods and reels to the center of the reel seat.this makes the tip weightless and extremely more sensitiveimho.i also disagree with people who say you don't need to balance a crank/spinnerbait rod.the reason for this is i feel a balanced rod is less stressful during casting also.you are not trying to stop a tip heavy tip from continung it's motion.the tip stops when you want it.after hundreds of flips and pitches it's also noticable.a rod balanced to the center of the reel seat will balance with any reel.imho a rod balanced to the center of the reel seat is a must.
