GLADES Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 After finally dispatching the Bulls, the Miami Heat will face the Dallas Mavericks for the NBA Championship. Any Heat, LaBron, Wade fans? Go Miami! 1 Quote
Captin Obvious Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 You guys are going down. The Ref's aren't going to be able to win this one for you. Fear the Big German GO MAVS 1 Quote

OHIO Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfBtyyfS7G8 Noah is dead on when he calls them Hollywood. The most annoying team in the NBA. It doesn't help that half of their "fans" are fair-weather either. GO MAVS! Dirk and Kidd deserve it more than any other players. 1 Quote

You should probably watch ESPN a bit more often then. Most of the year ESPN has been doing nothing but saying how Miami is going to lose left and right. Miami was going to lose to the Celtics. Miami was going to lose to the Bulls. Miami is now apparently going to lose to the Mavs. Guess what, ESPN was wrong. ------------------------------------------------------ I haven't posted a big (insert expletive here) to all the Heat haters that are running around the country. Apparently everybody is mad because they didn't get X player. Thats fine. I'll enjoy the product that is on the floor of my team. And before you call me a fairweather fan (not saying you did), I've been a season ticket holder for a long time. I remember watching the very first heat game while sitting on the floor of my bedroom going crazy that we finally had a team down here. As far as saying Dirk and Kidd deserve a ring, eh sure. As much as every other player to make the finals this year. Thats the beauty of a team game. I've got plenty of respect for what they've done over their careers. Dirk is a ridiculously good player. He's playing better right now than he ever has. This should be a very good series. The Mavs as a perimeter shooting team may struggle against the Heats perimeter defense. The Mavs interior defense will probably give the Heat some problems as well. Predictions? Thats hard to say. The homer fan in me wants to say sweep, but that more than likely wont be the case. Miami in 6 would be my guess. Looking forward to being at the AAA on Tuesday evening. ----------------------------------------------------- There is one fact that nobody will be able to ignore. This will be the worst Heat team you're going to see for the next few years. Riley will have some more money available and the ability to replace a few players. If Dallas is going to win one, they better do it this year. 1 Quote
tipptruck1 Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Well it seems like any time I turned on ESPN. I heard ESPN kissing butt. I am sorry If I didn't hear ESPN saying they would lose. Like I said I don't watch munch of ESPN munch any more. Why I hate ESPN belongs in a other post. Quote

I've never been a "fan" of ESPN. They've become far too biased in recent years. Especially during the College Football season. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted May 28, 2011 Super User Posted May 28, 2011 On a side note: I definitely didn't expect the Heat to make it to the Finals. I've been very impressed with how they've played in the Playoffs, outside of Game 1 in Chicago. You're watching a far different team than earlier this year. They are far stronger defensively than anybody ever thought. LeBron has matured very quickly before every bodies eyes. He's no longer just an offensive threat. He really has turned into a complete player this year. His defensive play has been off the charts, as well as his ability to facilitate other players getting the ball. It definitely says something when Scottie Pippen says that James, though he may not be the best "scorer," he may be the best "player" ever in the NBA with the way his game has developed. I'm still not sure why Derrick Rose got the MVP, over LeBron or Dwight Howard. IMO Howard should have won it. If he leaves Orlando, you're looking at a team that might be lucky to win 10 to 15 games. I applaud you for being a true fan and having season tickets must be amazing. I wish Cincinnati had a team. I've talked to people who say they like the Heat and I try to talk ball with them, but they can't even name the starting five. That's the thing that annoys me most about the Heat. That and the "Big Three." They are all great players and will probably be hall of famers, but the way they carry themselves just irritates me to no end. Chris Bosh saying he wants to be known as the "Gentleman of the NBA," and Lebron and Wade just being cocky every post-game interview. There is no need for any of that. I don't think that people dislike Lebron because he didn't end up on their team though. I think it's mostly because of the way he left Cleveland. He didn't need a 1 hour special about it on ESPN. The last part of your post is really scary. The only teams the Heat will have to worry about next year will be OKC and Chicago IMO. The Lakers, Celtics, Mavs, and Spurs are all past their prime and don't have much of a chance next year unless they make some major trades. I hate to say that because I'm a Celtics fan, but it's the truth. One question though. Why do you think the Heat will win? Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted May 28, 2011 Super User Posted May 28, 2011 No worries, I wasn't offended at all Was just making sure that was out in the open and made clear. I don't see them being cocky, I see it more on the sides of them having fun. 90% of the time after the games they're laughing. It's actually fairly refreshing to see a few players generally enjoying themselves. As far as Bosh goes, I've always liked him, but I wasn't the biggest fan of Miami picking him up. I think there were better choices out there. I'm certainly not going to complain though. Why do I think they'll win? Defense. Offensively, they struggled a bit with Chicago, which is understandable. Chicago had the number one defense in the league. Miami has the number two defense. With the way they've been playing lately though, it looks like they're in another league. A lot of this series is going to hinge on bench production. I think it's fairly well known that Miami has a weak bench. The caveat is that the bench doesn't have to come in and score 30 points. If Miami gets 15 or 20 points off the bench, they'll be in good shape. Mind you, the same can be said about the Mavs. The problem the Mavs may run into is defense. They're ok defensively, but they're going to have to completely shut down three very good scoring players, that are all playing at the highest levels they have this year. If they can slow the Heat down offensively, things will get very interesting. Both teams are very good in transition with the edge to the Heat. Dallas is definitely a better outside shooting team because of Dirk. The real battles are going to be in the paint. Who's going to step up and take control of the middle. That may well be the deciding factor. I'm looking forward to this one. Rematch of 2006. Yet both teams are very different now. -------------------------------------------------------- As far as the bandwagon fans go: Thats just expected. Any time a team in any sport signs a few big name players the new fans are going to be there. The same holds true for a team that starts to dominate, etc etc. Look at sudden rise in Celtics fans when they signed Allen and KG. Or look at the Cowboys when they were winning all those Super Bowls. The same for the Patriots. It's just a fact of life in the sporting world. ------------------------------------------------ About LeBron and the ESPN special: I wont defend him, I just ask you to look at it from all sides. He donated a couple million dollars to a very worthy charity from doing it. The only reason a big deal got made about it, is because it was him. Carmelo Anthony did exactly what everybody said LeBron should have done, and got killed for it. He was in a lose lose situation no matter what happened. If Dwight Howard decides to leave Orlando and announces it in the same way that James did, nobody is going to care. You're very entitled to your opinion, just remember to examine the entire story. Not just what was seen on the TV. ------------------------------------------------ I'd say OKC is a far bigger threat than Chicago. Younger and more talented. Chicago got exposed for just what they are. The present day Cavaliers when James played for them. You can't win with one person. You may be great in the regular season, but once the Playoffs start, you're going to get hurt. Look at the Lakers this year if you doubt that. Kobe was basically alone and they got hurled out of the playoff race like a dirty rag. Quote

JoePhish Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Go Heat! I jumped off the Knicks train years ago for variety of reasons. Now I hate almost everything MSG. Since I'm down in Florida now I may as well jump on the Heat band wagon. I think there's still room for this transplant. Should be a great final - Dirk vs LaBron. Those 2 guys are both beasts. Quote
