ukbumpkin Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 Yeah no problem. I haven't managed to accumulate more than 4-5 hours of fishing in the last two weeks and in that time nothing picture worthy... Should have a little more time in the next week though. Watch this space for lunkers :-) Quote
ukbumpkin Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 Oh I just skunked myself with that last comment, I know it... Quote
anglerjoe Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Speaking of lunkers - caught this bad boy in a small 5-acre no-name pond on my way to Wachusett yesterday afternoon. Didn't have a scale but must have been 7+ lbs. Also caught two bronzebacks in Wachu 3-4 lbs. I have been skunked there sometimes but yesterday was a good day. Must be the new moon too - get on the water this weekend folks. Catch n release! Happy Independence Day! Quote

Super User Jigfishn10 Posted July 4, 2011 Super User Posted July 4, 2011 A fine fish for sure...Nice on anglejoe! Quote
anglerjoe Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 A fine fish for sure...Nice on anglejoe! Thank you gentlemen! ukbumpkin - I took your advice and hit White Pond in Concord this weekend. I was out for trout but I saw a bass jumping close and quickly threw on a rapala crank. Put up quite a fight on my ultralite trout rig but finally landed this nice 5 pounder! No such luck with the trout but I know they are in there - saw an old timer with two nice 15" rainbows in his bucket. Nice pond with very little fishing pressure and 20 mins from Newton - definitely will be back there soon. Thanks for the tip. Quote
ukbumpkin Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 Wow that fish must have been a lot of fun on an ultra-light setup. It is a beautiful pond with next to know fishing pressure and some really nice trails around that area also. Quote

A good 3-4 minute fight during which he made several 15 yard runs for the weeds. Look how exhausted he looks in the picture. haha. He revieved soon once I put him back in the water and was on his way in no time. I caught a couple other smaller ones on the same crank that day. Read that they have stocked broodstock salmon in that pond as well. Watch for me on the water with my surf/salmon rod soon! Quote
Stas Kovtun Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 great thread but sort of died out...any other good spots. I fished Crystal lake today and 4 bass, all under 1lbs. I've heard stories of some monsters in there though. Any one fish hemlock gorge section of the charles with an success...I've absolutely had no hits at all and that section looks like great bass water. Quote
ukbumpkin Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 I live very close to Hemlock Gorge and have fished it many times on my way home. The river has never really produced that much for me. There is a little pond section close to route 9 that I've had a few out over 2.5lbs, but it becomes very choked up mid summer. Quote
nhbassin Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Hey guys, I tried out Chestnut Hill Reservoire a couple times in the past few weeks. Ive seen tons of big baitfish, but all ive caught was a handful of pickerell. No big pike yet, and no bass to be found. The season is over now, but I will be trying it out again in the spring. I caught a couple of small bass on shallow crankbaits recently at Harold Parker State Forest in North Andover as well. Anyone else fished there before? Quote
