Nashua Nev Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Hit up the pennichuck bridge last night Went for a walk with pole and a popr. i didnt have a measure or a scale these are the 3 biggest. not bigger than 2 1/2 but still a fish, all on a top water popr. do they get more aggressive before a storm? the thunder and lightning had started but never got too close so i stayed and fished. they started hitting real hard and aggressive a few minutes after the first set of thunderboomers http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/th_topwaterpoprpennbridge6-1-11-1.jpg http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/th_pennbridge6-1-11topwtrpopr.jpg http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/th_6-1-11topwaterpopr6-1-11pennbridge.jpg Quote
ICU812 Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 In theory the bite should pick up before a storm as the barometric pressure drops - they say this "pre-frontal" condition is supposed to be some of the best fishing. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I had a good weekend of lots of small largemouth at naticook. it was loads of fun with the kids. nothing bigger than 2 lbs , also had a good weekend on shore in the pennichcuck. Unfortunatly my cell phone with pics is somewhere at the bottom of naticook. Quote

grampa1114 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Sounds to me like bringing a tape measure in your tackle box could win you a tournament. People are catching but not measuring. This could be an easy win. C'mon guys, right now size doesn't matter. Lets get some fish on the board. Quote
birdy Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Top water bite has been non-existent here in SW Ohio. Been trying 3-4 time a week weather dependent. Finally broke through last night. Tiny torpedo, Heddon, nice LMB 16.5 inches long, 9 inches girth. I'm on the board. As for the fishing, I’ve been slaying them with a Carolina rigged worm almost every time out. Just not into the top water or I'm leaving to go to bed before they are hitting. Quote
GrundleLove Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Well, looks like it's time to hit my secret spot after work today and take hold of this tourney by the balls. Got by PB there WITH a Pop-R....never underestimate the Pop-R...EVER! EDIT: I know I am being a stickler but pics with length should absolutely be mandatory....I may buy the winner a BR deal or something like that. Which will probably be me buying one for myself...Bring it on! Quote

Hey guys, birdy did this perfect. this is all that is required as far as posting your catches. Lure - Length - Girth birdy, you'll see your weight in post #1. I'll juggle 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc when we get more posted weight. Quote

Bass at my spot go crazy for topwater on days like that. Quote
backwater4 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Finally managed 1 on topwater. 13", 1.3 lbs on the fish calculator Hand poured frog Quote
WanderLust Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I'm on the board... 13.5 inches, 7 girth LMB. Nice little LMB on a Rebel Pop-r last night. Fishing calc says 1.25 pounds which seems right. Was getting dark and I was getting eaten alive so I was rushed. I wish this one had come on topwater but alas Fat IKA strikes again. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted June 24, 2011 Author Super User Posted June 24, 2011 Well at least the ball is rolling. backwater4, thanks for posting your catch and I did enter it in the standings above, but please in the future include the girth measurement. If that fish was a 5 lber, I wouldn't have put that in. Thanks and keep catching fish. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted June 24, 2011 Super User Posted June 24, 2011 I forgot all about this. I'll be out early Sunday morning, talk to ya when I get back. Quote
GrundleLove Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 On the board suckas, got a pic but having trouble getting it from my phone to la computadora. (good idea to carry a tape measure when fishing) 13.6 inches....8.1 girth. My crappy scale sucks, said it was .5 pounds (bull crap) but the 1.46879999LB that the fish calc came up with seems more accurate. Caught it on a SPRO Bronze-eye at Long Pond in Lakeville on 6/26/11 Not the fish I wanted to start the tourney off with, but better than nothing. More to come. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted June 29, 2011 Super User Posted June 29, 2011 Woohoo I'm on to board and taking the lead with 19x13 LMB caught on ole faithfull scumfrog. I used some fishing math tacken from the BPS calculator because my phone won't let me use the BR one but using L x L x W / 1200 gives it a weight of 3.91083333333....... I got pics that I will try to post but lately it hasn't let me but I can email them to whoever wants proff and they can post pics if you would like *edit* got on the BR calc it says 4.6lbs!!! But honestly it wasn't 4 and a half pounds I can see 4 lbs closer to the BPS calc weight but its your call BPS calc weight of 3.9 or BR calc of 4.6 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted June 29, 2011 Author Super User Posted June 29, 2011 clayton86, it's 3.9 lbs for you, Mister! LOL...I plugged you in for the 4.6 lbs. Seriously, we all agreed that we'll be using the BR calc...NICE CATCH! Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted June 29, 2011 Super User Posted June 29, 2011 Thanks I lost 4 others about the same size on the frog as well 2 on a stanley ribbit 2 on the spro so I switched to a white and red scum frog and landed the first 2 that bit that one was the bigest the other messured 17x10. Got em in a back creek channel little coves over grown with pads and grass. Bass were up shallow and pike were on a mad patrol on the edges in deeper water edging the cove. I got 3 goodsized bass and 2 crazy pike that destroyed my booyah spinner Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted July 1, 2011 Author Super User Posted July 1, 2011 I finally have time to fish tomorrow and Saurday...I will be posting a catch if it kills me...LOL Enjoy the 4th weekend all! Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted July 2, 2011 Super User Posted July 2, 2011 I thought I was gonna hit it outa the park last night me and the nephew hit our secret hole loaded with a very healthy population of bass with some brutes in there. But none of the big girls came out to play I caught 20+ on the rage shad all in the 2 ta 3lb range. Man did they fight good and they all were fat chunkers looked like they were bout to spawn a 2nd time. I doubt they were they were busting minnows all over the place they just like to eat there. Quote
WanderLust Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I've had some great luck with the Kelly J lately but nothing worth posting. I'm heading into Bucketmouth land tonight so lets see if we can find a lunker! Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted July 10, 2011 Author Super User Posted July 10, 2011 Last year I was killing them on topwater, now I can't even get a legal size fish...man, this stinks, I waited all winter for this? Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted July 14, 2011 Super User Posted July 14, 2011 The topwater bite has completly stoped here the other week I caught 20+ on the rage shad and other top waters now my past 2 outings to my secret hole have been big goose eggs on the topwater and all my bites are coming from cranks and spinners I even got a 6.5lber last time on a rage anaconda after working the area with a spook and buzzbait I could cried but oh well still tied with me pb for the year just not topwater Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted July 14, 2011 Author Super User Posted July 14, 2011 I had this wake follow my spook jr, so I followed it up with a tube. 20"L x 13"G: Would have been a nice way to get on the board....LOL Oh well, if I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any. Quote
WanderLust Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Epic night of smallie fishing here including my PB smallie this year on a buzzjet! 20.5" L x 12" G = 4.94 pound blockheaded monster. Didn't snap a pic as it was pretty much pitch black and I only had my phone. But what a fish. Quote
