Rick Jenkins Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I have a heavy action Kistler rod, 7'. A Pleuger Presidential baitcasting reel on it and 40lb braid. I'm trying to throw frogs over grass mats for the morning bites and am only able to cast about 20 feet away from the boat. This is driving me crazy!!!! Does anyone have any idea as to what the issue is? Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted May 24, 2011 Super User Posted May 24, 2011 How long have you been using baitcasters ? Quote
1nstinct Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 do you have everything adjusted for the weight of the lure? Quote
ChazfromVA Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 check and make sure your tension knob on the side isnt too tight and that your brakes arent all the way on.. that president shouldnt have a problem throwing the braid..just do some fine tuning and you should see an improvement in casting distance Quote
Super User RoLo Posted May 24, 2011 Super User Posted May 24, 2011 Sounds like a brake-setting issue Quote
brushhoggin Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 are you throwing buzzfrogs or hollowbodies? Quote
