hjerk24 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Saw these on "A Day on the Lake", and tried them. I think they are the best frogs I have used so far. They have a great leg action, and the hook ups have been good so far. Just curious if anyone else uses them. They work well on a worm screw hook, and they travel very nicely over the slop. I saw a 3 pounder come up on a brush hog the other morning, and threw this, and two cranks, and blam. Using on 50lb. Power Pro....AWESOME! Can't wait to throw this Toad up at Champlain. I leave the 20th....and will be at the TI ramp at first light!!!!! Good fishing! Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 They're my fav too. Sizmic Toad is a close second. I have really good luck letting these toads fall slowly and working them off the bottom. Quote
FishDontLikeMe1301600221 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 i got intro. to them last season to me those and stanleys are the best and i like the sizmic pop'r toad to,but yea for me it used to be horny toad now its cane toads in white or the watermel. swirl Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted June 3, 2009 Super User Posted June 3, 2009 cane toads are good , but get some rage tail toads or CANYON PLASTICS 4.5'' frogs , those things work very good . zoom horny toads are way to light and don't cast far because of it . it never hurts to have more than a FEW choices in your tackle box , i know i do !!! PlasticMan135 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I have found that really active fish will hit the frogs that have the large boot type feet, such as the Ribbit, Rage Toad and Cane Toad. If they are slightly less aggressive they can be enticed to hit a Sizmic or a Horny Toad. Sometimes I will throw a larger foot frog first, then switch to the Sizmic. I prefer the Sizmic. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted June 3, 2009 Super User Posted June 3, 2009 I agree with your thinking too plasticman. Canes are a great toad indeed but I prefer the ribbit as my best frog. For a subtle approach, calm water,or a subsurface twitch, the sizmics rule. Quote
hjerk24 Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Have tried the Rage tail (like them), and also the Horney Toads (Like them also), and will try the ribbits. I have a tourney thisweekend, and not to much funds for new Canes, so i will be using the Rage tails, and the Zooms. Either way....what a blast when a Bass hits a frog, and BLAM!!!!! Hookset, and reel em' in to the boat! Great replies...Thanks! Jamie Quote
Use ONLY Stren Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I love the horny toad from zoom its awesome, I can catch tons of fish on it in open water, or over the slop. Quote
Steven Ladner Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I love the horny toad from zoom its awesome, I can catch tons of fish on it in open water, or over the slop. x2, I love that lure But I will have to give the rage toad a try Quote
BassinSoldier Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I agree with plasticman, that the fish NAIL these when they are active. Okeechobee craw is my fav. color. Still love my rage toads and horny toads though. Quote
