Anyone Else Own The Powell Swim Jig Rod ?

Got mine from Tackle Warehouse about 3 or 4 weeks ago and finally got to take it out on the river. Only caught a few fish on it, biggest was 3 pounds. It casts great, feels balanced even tho it's not the lightest rod in my arsenal. I think bronzefly is right when he stresses balance is more important then weight. It just feels right to me. I only have one other powell rod but may end up gettin a few more as some point. I think you guys who fish swim jigs and chatterbaits ,half ounce or less , will like this rod. It's well worth the 160 bux no doubt. I was throwing a half ounce daves tournament tackle swim jig with a yamamoto double tail grub for a trailer and it was perfect. I only wish it was rated for heavier baits since my chatterbaits are usually 5/8.

what's the heaviest bait you've tried on this rod? it's hard to find a swim jig that weighs less then a half ounce....even a 1/4 ounce swim jig weighs 3/8th of an ounce with the shirt (1/4 is only the weight of the lead head) then with a trailer on it, most weigh over a half an ounce.

half ounce was the biggest and I agree, add a trailer and skirt and the weight adds up. It really slings a half ounce with a trailer but I dont think I wanna throw anything any heavier. Was really hoping to use this for chatterbaits but doubt thats gonna happen, not in the grass at least. I'll keep using my Avid MHF for chatterbaits, for now at least. Hoping they come out with a heavier rated swim jig or chatterbait rod soon. On a side note, I dont use trailers with chatterbaits very often. The Daves chatterbaits have a long section in the skirt that works as a trailer and catches more fish then any of my other chatterbaits with an added skirt.
