barroncooper Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Just heard in the local tackle store that they were 100% sure the new Lew's reels were being manufactured by pure fishing??? anyone know if this is true? Quote
joshmb1999 Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 I just heard from a very reliable source that this is not true. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 You heard wrong. Pure Fishing does not manufacture reels. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted May 22, 2011 Super User Posted May 22, 2011 It seems like this topic comes up every couple of days. Does it really matter who manufacturers them? Quote
barroncooper Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 I'm glad that I heard wrong. I actually heard they were made by the same people who makes abu garcia's. and yes it does matter who manufactures them especially if i don't like other reels that they manufacture and it is MY preference as to what I buy. so yes it does matter to me. say if you don't like a particular car manufacturer and they manufacture other cars under another name. don't you think that some of the characteristics and errors of the parent company will trickle into the other product? I'd be willing to bet they're made in the same factory in Korea that builds reels for BPS and Pure Fishing. The current owner of Lews was a buyer and product developer for BPS for almost 30 years. http://www.lews.com/lews-today.htm Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted May 22, 2011 Super User Posted May 22, 2011 They are not made by Shimano, thats all I care about, so I won't be buying one................sorry just had to. Quote
Super User Micro Posted May 22, 2011 Super User Posted May 22, 2011 Abu Garcia, Pflueger, Wright & McGill, Penn low profiles, Lews, many BPS and Johnny Morris models, are all manufactured by the same company. Quote
