GLADES Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I have been very busy with work and have not had time to fish the last couple of weeks. Anyone been out to Lox or the alley? Quote
Shane Procell Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Have not been there but I have been busting up the Big Cypress pretty good. Got great numbers but no size. Water so low that the gators are hitting rapalas. I'am used to getting snagged on them but have never really had them strike while working deep....untill this year. Got 11-12 on 20 cast yesterday. I was trying out the C.S. Special that JD's Custom Baits just put out. Anybody need a fishing partner next week , just holler. Quote

bocabasser Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 fished a tourny sunday at sawgrass and came in 3rd. i went all the way north to the end and caught over 100 fish. we had to weed through the 1 and 2 pounders, but we managed 18 pounds to finish 3rd. giggy heads, carolina rigged anything and big worms all caught fish. pop r's worked when the rain came. lox is low, but there are fish out there. you just gotta catch it at the right time. evrgladesbasser Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Fishing has been great on the Alley. I've been catching big numbers, and some decent size fish when I take the time to fish for them. Capt. Shane... Tuesday am? I'm thinking L67 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 20, 2011 Super User Posted May 20, 2011 No bass fishing but went offshore, fishing was very hot today. Quite a few times I had fish on both rods I had out. Quote
Louiem Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Hey Guys, New to the forum and new to bass fishing......Just got a boat and have fished at LOX twice this week Caught 8-10 each night all small using swim senkos. Definately shallow, fished last week before rain we had over the weekend and spent alot of time cleaning the trolling motor, Fished last night for about 90 minutes the rain helped a little as it was not as bad with the weeds...Just staying in the main canal until the water comes up. Also the barrier is up again in the east/west canal... Quote
piscicidal Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I've only had my boat out once in the past month. Lox too shallow and my hot spots dried up (literally) on Okeechobee. Been fishing the golf course ponds a little bit with my "land boat" (golf cart). Been getting 15-20 each night, with a few 5-6lbers in the mix. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted May 21, 2011 Super User Posted May 21, 2011 I haven't been getting out as much as I'd like to lately. Been hitting the lake here at the house for a few hours every couple of days though. Fish have been hiding in grass for the most part. The front that rolled through over the last couple of days seems to have moved them a bit deeper though. Nothing big, but lots of 1 to 3 pounders. Fun nonetheless. Quote
topwaterrob Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Fished L67 & Miami canal yesterday. Lots of little fish hitting anything soft you throw. Need some rain.... Quote
Shane Procell Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Fished the Big Cypress yesterday evening. Tore em up on strike king lipless bait and a rapala 6-9 lipped crank. 4 fish over 4 and at least 25 of eating size. Got it all filmed as well. I cut the tip of my pinky off yesterday morning while cutting some onions......so I was in extreme discomfort everytime I set the hook. Gonna go get em again this afternoon. Quote
gar-tracker Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Rotator cuff surgery Thursday, I was catching some good fish up off the Airport Hole and off shore out by Kellys hole. But Im out of commission for a couple of weeks, got to get better for a June 2 day. Quote

Super User South FLA Posted May 22, 2011 Super User Posted May 22, 2011 Slayed'em last night on my local golf courses, caught about 25 with my buddy fishing frogs and lipless, biggest 3 went about 4lbs, my buddy lost a HOSS! Think I may do some fishing up North......WAY NORTH, its just too HOT to fish during the day, also SNOOK fishing is absolutely incredible right now, going out after the holiday weekend coming up. Shane Procell Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Does anybody do any nightime fishing. When I lived in Orlando 80% of my fishing was at night and most all my big fish have come at night. Just wondering how it goes in the glades at night with the skeeters and prowling gators. Has to be productive, especially since its so hot now. Quote

You can catch some nice fish but IMO not worth the hassle, bugs, gators, Orlando's a little easier and less swampy, my buddy lives up there and fish's that Wednesday night deal they have at Toho, thats fun, the Glades are not. Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted May 23, 2011 Super User Posted May 23, 2011 I know that Doug (Bassn Blvd) fishes a few night tournaments and fairs pretty well in them. You may want to send him a PM for some info. Quote
gar-tracker Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 If you want to have some fun out there go jigger-poling at night. A giant strong cane pole with 50 lb mono taped down top the middle with about 2 feet extending past the tip, troll along the banks and splash a big spinner bait or buzz bait back and forth aggressively making as much commotion as possible.. Giant bass will crush it, then hand over hand it in. Back in the day the good old boy meat fisherman used to take sacks of giant bass out of those glades doing this. Before limits were put into place. Quote
SoFl-native Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Fished the north end of lox on Staurday. Caught 15-20. Biggest was 4.5. missed two that big as well. All three of those were back to back casts. bigger fish came on big worms and spooks. Water is crazy low. Gators everywhere. Quote
shallow thinker Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Man it's getting hot out there. I about fried on Saturday fishing some urban canals for snakeheads. It's time to sleep in and fish late afternoon or at night. Quote
piscicidal Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I went out last night walking the golf course about midnight. Pretty fun fishing...caught a few up to about 3.5lb on spro frogs/spooks. Always a little intense walking around out there in the dark with all the critters (banana spiders/water moccasins/alligators/german shepherds/etc...) and then when some big ol bass explodes on your bait ten feet away it gets a little bit exciting. I went out with my son yesterday afternoon with the golf cart also...he caught five on senkos. I caught two but they were good ones. One 3lb and one 5.5lb. Pitching a T-rigged Ol Monster around stumps. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 23, 2011 Super User Posted May 23, 2011 What's hot is kingfish. Been going offshore 2-3 times a week, and it's been very good. Went out this morning for 3 hours, we kept 4 (limit 2 each), released a few and got cut off more times than I can remember. I caught another cobia, a rainbow runner and blue runners that I have never seen so big, great fight. First cast caught decent bass, first in ages, lots of snook too. Still waiting for the big jacks to hit the beach. Quote

I am thinking about taking a night trip about the Helen S this week. last couple of weeks they running bigger than they are now, saw a guy with 2 over 50# each. We had 3-5 feet today and that is what you want, flatter water is not as good. Quote
