I just got one in the mail using the upgrade program. I loved my premiere, but from the feel of the avid, it seems to be more tip heavy. I havent fished with it yet, so hopefully my impressions of it will change because I have only heard great things about this rod.

What do you guys use this rod for?

EDIT: I already have a Powell 704C that I love for T-Rigs and jigs, so what should I do with the avid?

I own a couple copies of this rod. It's VERY touchy as to what reel you put on it. I have a Zillion on one, and it was terrible, same for a TD-A. Put a TD-X flipping reel on it, and it became a surgical fishing tool.

I have a core50 on mine, and use it for t-rigs.

I've had one for a few years. Designated it my spinnerbait rod at first, don't throw them much so it wasn't fished at first. Even though I still think it's a great spinnerbait rod for me, I also fish t-rigs and lipless cranks on it every once in awhile. I like to put a heavier reel on it because it does seem very tip heavy, have had a Supreme and Energy on it, and now use a Citica. It's a very versatile rod once you get it balanced out.

I have two of these, and like the rods but agree they seem to be a little tip heavy compared to 7' Loomis rods. I think they balance pretty good with Zillions, while the Loomis 843 balances pretty good with a Steez. The 7' MHF Avid compares to the 844 Loomis which they rate as a 'heavy' power. I like using this rod in thick cover with soft plastics and frogs.

The Avid 7 MH/F is a nice rod. I used the rod for spinnerbaits for a couple years and then gave it to my Dad. He uses it as an all purpose setup now, mainly for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, and light frogging.
