GrundleLove Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Funny you should mention that. My work does a golf morning once a week at 6 am and because my old golf clubs SUCKED i just got some new ones....well...used...practically new. This guy was a fitness trainer and won a contest from Titleist to get custom fitted for clubs. So he was selling his old ones for 400.....i offered 300 and he took em. 2008 Callaway big bertha iron set, 4-P. all regripped 2 weeks ago and the heads are in MINT condition. Cleveland Hi-Bore XLS MONSTER driver with a shorter shaft for a stiffer flex (perfect for me) Taylor Made putter...some XI blah blah (i will stick to my VooDoo) Adams golf 3 wood that i LITERALLY have poked longer than any 3 i have ever owned. Cleveland 22degree 7 hybrid. and a Callaway Diablo Bag ( he got it 2 weeks ago its mint) Needless to say I got a deal. EDIT: Oops forgot pics EDIT AGAIN: Forgot to mention that the 4 and 5 are Callaway's iBird hybrids...they are so sweeettt Quote
CKFishin Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I can't afford another expensive hobby between diesel trucks, fishing/bassboat, and the racecars no way can I afford another... I have played a few times with friends clubs I can chip well and that's about it. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted May 18, 2011 Super User Posted May 18, 2011 Q. Why do they call it "golf"? A. Because *&$# was already taken. 1 Quote
tipptruck1 Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I don't have the temper for golf at all. I can drive it a mile but that's about it. I would rather be fishing or at the track on a nice day though. Quote

GrundleLove Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 cant believe all these golf haters out there, i mean golf and fishing just seem to go together. granted probably not as much as hunting but still... Quote
Super User Root beer Posted May 19, 2011 Super User Posted May 19, 2011 I played when I was a teen and took it up again when my brother lived on a golf course. My dad had a membership, but he let it expired and I haven't played since my brother moved due to job related. It was only good for shouting cuss words. It is highly likely I won't pick it up again, I got mountain biking, fishing, and backpacking to keep my soul sane. I'm sure once I get into real world that I'll have clients and coworkers inviting me to go play golf. Hopefully going fishing or bike riding won't hurt my relationship with them. Quote

You can take your tackle bag instead of a golf bag and just fish while they golf. Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 20, 2011 Super User Posted May 20, 2011 I was more of an avid golfer than a fisherman prior to moving to Florida fulltime. When I first got down here I played golf everyday, then did some bass fishing in the afternoon. Took a walk out on the jettie 1 day and saw these guys catching these little 4-5 # Jack crevelles. Next day I bought saltwater combo, caught a few jacks and haven't touched a club since, and reduced my bass fishing to the winter, been 6 years. Have thought about playing golf many times, just haven't as yet, but I want to. I think golf is the greatest game there is. Quote
ring fry Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Have worked at golf course for 40+ years. Used to play every day. Played mini tours for a few years and a couple PGA Tour events. Played once two years ago, three times last year and played last Tuesday. Birdied 3 of the last seven to shoot 85. Still won 50 bucks. Better to know how to gamble than know how to play!!!!!!!!!!!! Super User Long Mike Posted May 23, 2011 Super User Posted May 23, 2011 I took up bass fishing when it finally dawned on me that I would never be worth a crap at golf. I just don't have the temperament for it. I got angry when I made a bad shot, which boiled over to the next shot, which boiled over to the next. My average score was in the high nineties, low 100's. Obviously, I didn't enjoy it, so, here I am hanging out on a bass fishing web site. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I played a ton last year because one of my friends worked at the course. I got pretty good. Averaged around 75, but did shoot a 69 one day!! I played for the first time in about 8 months Friday and needless to say, it was BAD!!! A 100 even, a 56 on the front and a 44 on the back. If only I had a dollar for every tree I hit that day... bass or bass ? Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Ain't got the time! With 5 grand kids (always want us to go to something, piano recital, dance recital, birthdays, school events, etc), a band to rehearse and gig (I play bass, harmonica, and vocals), and a home remodel, if I have any spare time I go fishing. Fishing time averages about once every 6 to 8 weeks, and at that someone is always disappointed. Also, the game does absolutely nothing for me, which is kinda sad because I have a natural talent for it. Quote
