Berkley Pro Braid?

Anyone had the chance to get their hands on it? I've only seen the advertising for it, saying it will be available early in '11, have nothing other than that on it. It's been in a couple catalogs, too, but no other real descriptors as to what the line will be like.

I saw some in Dick's the other day. I didn't really look at it because I don't need line right now, but if you have one near you might try looking there if you're interested in it. I haven't seen any reviews yet either.

That line which is made of 8 strands with ONE of them being Gortex isn't going to offer any more performance than any other 8 strand weave braid.

The color comes off easily with the line pinched between fingernails.

Marketing to the gullible again.

That's what I was wondering, I can't find anything on it at all. It's supposed to be finer and tighter in diameter than anything currently available. I would assume that it is similar in construction to 832, but don't know that for sure yet.

I bought some today at Dick's , it was on sale $14.99 marked down to $7.00 figured for $7 its worth a try.

What seperates it from other braids ? Sufix 832 has a gore strand, fireline is all about fused superlines, etc. What's it's selling point ? Because other than that it just looks like a run of the mill braid to me.

I have no clue, I have nver used the line.

See how easy that was? You should try it sometime. It makes you look bad when you just quote things from the box or copy what you see other people posting.

The Pro Braid has a sticky residue on it , I threw wind knots on my curado 200e7 when throwing into a slight breeze..

Although I did catch a pig on it (24 inches) , I took it off and threw it in the garbage, spooled back up with the power pro I had taken off.

I saw some in Dick's today. It's made from Dyneema, whereas their Fireline Braid (and most other braids--I think) is made from Spectra. If I remember correctly, their original Fireline fused line was made from Dyneema too.

Does anyone know the difference in properties of the two fibers?

There was a discussion about this some time ago, the two fibers are essentially the same. Spectra and Dyneema are just brand names for ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. The finish of the end product is essentially the difference. In short, they're both Gel-spun polyethylene.

In terms of the braid, too, I never have gotten my hands on it. I've quit looking, too, because I found Kanzen.
