Coffee Scented Lures?

I wonder how much some starbucks coffee worms would sell for? i'll be happy to buy some there because here in Puerto Rico is hard to find baits and lures, and kmart or walmart have no variety of lures. Hey just saw on you KVD talking about the coffee tube check out what he says

I dont think it is a better fish attractor, perhaps, makes them hold longer and masks scent like another poster said. The only attractant I KNOW to work is megastrike.

I've tested Megastrike time and time again and I get the same results every time. I like the lubrication qualities as well in thick grass.

I have some Strike King rage tail rage hog's and I can't buy a bite with them I get more fish with brush hog's.

I have been playing with a jar of p.j. Jelly with a container of tropical fish food mixed in it. I read an article that it contains phenohormones that simulate feeding. In my animal lure trapping fish bait fish bait recipes they suggest Shellfish essence oil, can of sardines packed in oil and then add Whitmoyer brand of cod liver   Proportions where 1/4 shellfish oil and 1/4 codfish. Oh I know your not trying to catch racoon fish but did you ever see commercial fisherman tossing chum. Now I ordered some Strike King worms to see if they break down with the p.j. Jelly. As far as the youngster with all the coffee in his tackle box.  Did we forget what it was to be young again.  Ever dream of catching a lunker bass or shooting a big buck. Keep the dream alive or feed the dreams of your Grand children. Life is good when you have success in your mind.

For a shore fisherman who fishes night and day donuts could be a problem. I’ve had a blackbear incounter using garlic scent I spilled on my rear bumper. I’m on a low bridge, he’s at my car, I have no where to go. Now I need to add donuts? Lol

 

now what grade of coffee to use? Very strong high test. What if they want cream and sugar? Lol

 

im going to try kraft italian zesty salad dressing with a tad of Regina red wine vinegar. It’s actually a combination I like. I’ll bet the fish will too.

btw it’s good in salads and on italian grinders too.

I bought some KVD perfect plastics finesse worms not realizing they were coffee scented... I just liked the way the baits looked and felt lol. I haven't really used them yet, but they definitely beat just smelling like plastic! My only complaint so far: they don't come in breakfast blend or classic roasted scents. It smells like some sort of artificial coffee extract you'd buy from the spice isle at Walmart to me. This coming from a pot-a-day coffee drinker lol.

Nightcrawlers definitely do like coffee grounds (I feed my fridge-kept canadians used coffee grounds, they do seem to like it as they've been alive for like 3 years now). Whether it helps them to be better fish bait? I don't think so... but they tend to be effective either way who could really tell?

Well, it's confirmed. Bass do like coffee... caught two today on KVD coffee scented finesse worms! Granted they were small ones, but nothing else I tried all day worked until I wacky rigged a KVD on a dropshot finesse rig then got two within 15 minutes of each other. Lol.

I know nothing of the science, and can only speculate, but I can say that coffee tubes do work.

i love the coffee tubes for smallies! they flat out get bit! i tried the coffee spray, hadnt had to much luck on it!

Wait hold on, youve have the same worms living in your fridge for three years?

Kind of... I know some die but I assume they reproduce cause I often find some in there that are a lot smaller than the others. I also do restock after I've gone fishing using them enough times to use up about a batch of worms, about 18 is average for what can be bought at a time from a store. So it's like mixed families in there at this point. I imagine some are older than others. I do re-dirt them when they show signs of being unhappy, such as a lot of them being on the surface at once for a while. I feed them newspaper and/or used coffee grounds. Newspaper I wait until they've shredded through what was in there, or when I re-dirt them I line the container with it to get started. Coffee grounds I do maybe once every few weeks, just a few sprinkles of it on the surface after I've dried it on some paper towel for a while. The thing that seems to kill them is excessive moisture that causes dirt molding. It'll get this white, webby stuff on it and the worms don't deal with it well at all. I have lost some batches in the past due to that so I learned. On average, I'd say a single batch can easily last a year or more kept cool and happy in a decent container with scheduled dirt replacements. I use an organic mixture from home depot that contains a fair amount of earthworm casings.

Hah, ok, that makes sense.  I was like man, after keeping the same worm alive for three years I would feel too attached to the little guy to use them as bait.

Lol, they are a bit like pets! I do feel a little bad stabbing them onto a hook... some of them are so big they are hard to rig up cause I find I have to run the hook down them, push them up to the shank tightly, repeat, then maybe even need to loop them a few times around the bend before finishing by letting a bit of them hang off the tip to cover the barb. To be fair they put up a fight the whole way and don't make it easy! Squirmy wormies!

 

One of these days I want to start a bed of Egyptian worms because they can handle my warm texas temperatures without cooling. These canadians I have are a bit of trouble to fish with because I have to load them in a small cooler with ice packs so they don't get too hot and die on me.
