tyrius. Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 It's okay. I'm used to it. Anytime a person thinks for themselves, and is not afraid to step out of the box, this is what that person should expect. I'm not really sure what you expected here. Bodybuilding to the level that these guys take it involves an INCREDIBLY small group of people and an incredible amount of effort. As such, the majority won't ever understand it. You seem pretty comfortable with your path and know that it is one that is "out of the box" so I don't really understand why you're surprised when you get the reaction from the "normal" people that you do. I'd bet that if you went on your bodybuilding forums and talked about stalking one single giant bass for an entire day and not getting a single bite they'd think you were crazy. To each their own, seems to be very fitting here. 1 Quote
Fish Chris Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 Okay guys, I'm sorry for getting so defensive. I just think it's really great that this old guy was able to pull himself up out of the hole, and regain a tremendous quality of life. As for my whole personal health kick, it's like this > I do think every 40-50 year old guy should at least pull himself up to about where I'm at right now. Not overly buffed... not overly lean. Just relatively healthy and fit (if they are not this healthy, or moreso already). And knowing that most guys do have some balance in their lives, they could probably just get right to this level, then back off, relax a little, and just skate along with an easy maintenance. Unfortunately for me, I've never known 1 oz of moderation with anything in my entire life ! If I were not trying to do everything I possibly can, to look like Zack Kahn, then I'd be falling straight for the bottom, right back to obesity, high blood pressure, probably diabetes, then a stroke, or a heart attack, within a handful more years. In other words, knowing myself, I really don't have a choice. I have to keep pushing for the very top. Anyway, when I talk about you "normal people"...... I have to admit, that every once in a while, I am a little envious. I wish I had just a little moderation, once in a while. My AADD, and obsessive / compulsiveness can be kind of a PITA sometimes too. On the other hand, for being such a psychological mess, I'm pretty proud of some of my accomplishments some times LOL Peace, Fish PS, Deakn, you are absolutely right ! A lot of those guys (like my buddy) cutting down to 4% or 5% body fat, with tons of lean mass.... that is REALLY hard on ones organs, and totally not healthy. I personally do not even like the look of 4-5% body fat. Oh BTW, my buddy is back to about 10% right now, and yesterday he asked me, "So you really think I look better at this BF %" ? I told him, "Yea.... now you look like you are going to survive" ! My long term goal is only 9-10%. Tyrius, I have been totally surprised how many of the guys on the body building forums have posted comments about "Nice fish" ! "Wow ! That's huge bass" etc, etc..... Sending me PM's and all > Ya' see, I have yet to post any photos of myself fresh after a workout, pumped up, and flexing (mostly because I feel so little and scrawny compared to a lot of those guys) but instead, every photo I've posted, was of me holding a trophy catch LOL I think their was one guy, who got all but hurt that I didn't take his diet advice.... who said, "Yea', whatever... well fishing sucks" LOL Okay dude Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted May 19, 2011 Super User Posted May 19, 2011 Do you just want to catch a big fish ? .....or the biggest fish ? If you were a racer, would 3rd place be good enough for you ? I dunno, about you, but I haven't ever wanted to do anything part way It's all out or nothing. Peace, Fish I totally disagree with your analogies. Finishing in 1st place or catching the biggest fish is only fun if you don't cheat. Your "idol" is a steroid freak who probably has/had serious inner personal issues about his self being. Being buff isn't going to do you any good if you're not at peace with yourself, mentally. And being buff as a result of steroid use certainly means nothing to me. In fact, I think it's a dang shame. Perhaps all you need is a bit more self confidence, not muscle. Quote
tyrius. Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Tyrius, I have been totally surprised how many of the guys on the body building forums have posted comments about "Nice fish" ! "Wow ! That's huge bass" etc, etc..... Sending me PM's and all > Well have you asked them if they'd like to sit in a boat for eight hours fishing for one big fish? Do you think they would enjoy a full day of trophy bass hunting without a single bite? You're asking us fishermen if we'd like to look like those guys. Maybe if I could take a magic pill and presto chango look like that then I'd say yes, but I've got three kids and a wife that I like to spend time with. I ain't got the time to even consider working out as fanatically as would be required to look like that. So, the answer is and always be no, I dont' want to look like those guys. I don't want to have my meals planned out to the calorie, I don't want to take tons of supplements (both legal and not), I dont' want to spend hours in the gym each day. Quote
Fish Chris Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 Well, it's like this.... It's become apparent that I can talk about fishing on the BB forums, and most of them are totally okay with it. But I can't really talk about BB on the fishing forum, because most you guys are not okay with it. Heck, if I ever do get really buffed, I might have to start putting a shirt back on to take my fish photo's huh ? {btw, I still kind of dream of the day, when and if I get buffed enough, that somebody says, "He must be on roids" That's going to be so flattering } Hmmmm. Even as much as an extremist as I tend to be, I still try to be open minded about most things.... except alcohol, or human overpopulation LOL (and even the latter of those two things might not make any difference in the end}. Peace, Fish 1 Quote
Super User grimlin Posted May 19, 2011 Super User Posted May 19, 2011 I don't think Grimlin is a kid and what he said is pretty true. A ton of girls like huge guys, but I'm not sure Zack Kahn huge. Maybe not Zack Kahn big,but I've been to some of those beaches down south, trust me it's true.I'm in my 30's trust me I've been around. Women like guys that have 6 packs, tight *** and a thick wallet. Girls like Justin Bieber...yeah,I'm not into the "knowing" of what kids like. Quote
