Not to mention most snake bites are sustained by people who cant leave the thing alone.

However I can understand killing it to protect pets, children, and livestock. Personally I would rather relocate the animal than kill it.

Theres always exceptions though when an animal can easily kill you.

Now if it bites you and its poisonous they say your supposed to kill it so the hospital can identify it correctly and give you the appropriate anti-venom? Anyone know if that is still true?

That looks like some of the Cotton Mouths I have seen basking in the Sun on flooded bushes at the 'Big Pond'.

By trying to catch or kill a snake, you would be wasting time that could be better spent hauling butt to the hospital. You would also be risking getting bitten again. I don't think that the hospital personnel would appreciate you carrying a snake into the emergency room either.

Which way did he go? Which way did he go?

I can see that too!

Hiker 1: Ouch I just got bit by a snake!

Hiker 2: Was it a poisonous snake?

Hiker 1: I dont know! I heard once your supposed to catch the snake and take it with you to the hospital.

Hiker 2: Oh ok. Which way did it go?

Hiker 1: I dont know Ill look over here. You look over there bywer swizzle shing jink mo mo.

Hiker 2: ILets get you to the hospital!!!!

That's a highly unusual way for a python/boa/ananconda to be carrying its head. They usuauly crawl with their heads down. And with big snakes, heads usually look small compared to the body. That head looks like a Callaway Big Bertha golf club head.

I'm calling BS on this one.

The animal was featured on a Louisiana TV news show.

It is for real.

I deleted the email I received with the news report.

I don't know what kind of snake it is. :)

I'm not buying what that website says, either. Anyone that calls a venomous snake "poisonous" can't be trusted to tell a snake from a shoe lace.

I do agree that's not Louisiana. Whatever the size of the snake, there aren't any snakes native to Louisiana that are colored that way. That doesn't rule out a non-native species.

That's not any kind of boa or python. Not with a head that round and large compared to its body. And certainly not the way its carrying it.

That may be Australia. If it's an Australian snake, and real, my guess its a released Inland Taipan.

I don't think its a Brown Snake. Wrong color.

I also don't think that snake approaches 20 feet.

Frankly, I think it's fake. Either that, it's dead, mounted, and posed.

I agree with that.

Looks like a garden hose with the head & neck of a Canada goose :D

While it is uncommon for pythons and boas to lift there head up they sometimes do to see over objects such as somewhat tall grass,

if the picture is real it is a large olive python,or a retic, or a very large female burm, anaconda is possible but they are much thicker than that

my vote is fake tho
