Do you or have you ever felt like you've read all you could, tried everything you could, but just didn't get results from a technique? I must have read at least 10-20 articles, watched tons of videos, tried numerous times and I still cannot get a spinner bait to work for me. I am making it a goal to try new techniques this summer but spinner baits are making it difficult for me to complete this goal.

Granted, it is early in the summer, not even really, but I was just curious if anyone else had this problem.

Might seem crazy, but I never caught a thing on a zoom fluke! And it's not for lack of trying either.

The same goes for the ton of Yum and Strike King (except the Rage series) plastics I have. I keep telling myself to save some money and stick to my good old Yamamotos, but I never seem to learn.

I very rarely can catch fish on deep running crankbaits (10 feet or deeper in my book). Even if the fish are holding deep and I can catch them on something else if I switch to a deep running crank I just can't seem to get bit on it. It's frustrating to see guys catching fish on 6XD's and DD22's and try to throw them until my arms fall off and barely catch anything. I think everyone has a bait or category of baits that they just can't seem to get the hang of.

X2

Cannot get bit on a crankbait if I stuck it in a fish's mouth

For me it's the Senko. I have a ton of the stupid things, but the only thing I can catch with them is water. :dontknow:

I'm sure there's something simple that I'm missing, but I don't really care enough to bother with them anymore. I'll just stick to other lures that actually work for me.

Top water popper. I have no idea what i am doing wrong. It just looks stupid on the retrieve and I am sure there is a bass just laughing the whole time.

Deep cranks are still one of my low confidence baits, but I am starting to warm up to them. When chatterbaits first hit big, I could not buy a bite with them. I kept one at hand until I finally started catching an occassional fish. It is now one of my go-to baits in stained/choppy water.

Don't give up on spinnerbaits. They are not my favorite way of catching fish, but one trip where you throw them up into cover and the bass try to rip the rod out of your hand, and you'll probably come around. B)

I have a couple. Using in line spinnerbaits the only thing I can seem to catch is grass. The only thing that I seem to be able to catch on hollow body frogs are real frogs.

I´ve been bass fishing for over 3 decades, in those 30+ years I´ve only caught 5 fish with a buzzbait, and I´m stubborn as a Mule, I still try to catch bass on a buzzbait, one day, one day I will catch fisj on buzzbaits, now it´s personal.

I catch a ton of stickbass and mossbass on a spinnerbait . You're not the only one, they're my most difficult lures to catch fish on. I absolutely love to fish them, but can't buy a bass bite on em. Even when its cloudy, with wind, and all of those other necessary spinnerbait additives, just no luck.

Fishing a Carolina Rig. Never catch using it. Why? Because I'd rather watch paint dry than fish it, LOL.

That's not entirely true, I'll use it when I have to.

Can't catch a thing on any type of crankbait, yet I still have a dedicated crankin rod and a ton of baits.

Right lure in the wrong place will get the same results regardless how often you try.

Spinner baits are reaction lures, if the bass are not reacting to the lure, you need to change someting. That something is uaually the size, speed, depth and location.

The next outing that you are catching active bass, try the spinnerbait during that bite.

If you are using a 1/2 double willow model, change to a 1/4 oz single or double brass/nickle colorado in chartreuse and white.

Tie it on and wait for active feeders, your luck should change.

Trying to force feed inactive bass a reaction lure doesn't work very often.

Good for you, never say quit!

Now when you finally start catching them on one of those things, drop me a line and I'll go buy a new one. The buzzbaits I used to have I gave away.... to people I didn't like! :D

Jigs for me. A proven, effective bait, but I just haven't used them enough to have any confidence in them. All of the other baits mentioned so far I catch fish on although I'm still weak on deep cranking. I think that's more of an indication of my lack of experience in identifying and exploiting deep structure than any shortcoming with the bait...

Buzzbaits - haven't used them much so far this year but did OK last year - 31 fish.

Lipless cranks - my FAVORITE hard bait - 136 fish, up to 5.42lbs, so far this year on lipless.

Spinnerbaits - getting better on these - have caught bass up to 4.87lbs so far this year.

Chatterbaits - just started using them - got my PB (9.06) on a chatterbait in February.

And when all else fails, I have my bag of trusty 5" grubs... B)

I can count all of the baits I will need on one hand for the fishing I do.

Jigs

Plastics

Frogs

I can catch fish on everything, I just always do best on the big three.

Like someone said on here, I think it's just the wrong application of the lure. I'm gunna keep trying though. I've stowed my plastics for the past couple of days and only used my spinners and cranks. I hardly take them out. Needless to say my past couple days of fishing haven't been too successful. Yet I don't blame the techniques entirely. A storm front has moved in. Lots of thunderstorms yesterday and today, and to continue through out the week. Oh well.

Just gotta wait it out.

I catch more white bass than largemouth with jerkbaits. It's pretty infuriating when something hits your jerkbait really hard, only to disappoint you when you reel it in.

My personal nemesis is the Zara Spook. I've got a handful of them and I used to throw them on a regular basis, but NEVER caught a single bass on one. I catch bass on other topwater baits, but not even a dink on the Spook. They've all been relegated to the big box of lures that I'll get rid of someday.

Another one for me is the drop shot I have such a hard time with it iv caught fish on it but it was when they were destroying anything I threw in the water. So drop shots and deep cranks are my nemesis. It used to be spooks like tholmes till last year now there one of my go to lures.
