Super User Redlinerobert Posted May 15, 2011 Super User Posted May 15, 2011 Took dad today to Lake X, after putting the boat on the trailer I walked a portion of the shore and found this dead behemoth. My shoe is a size 12, and barely stretches past the gill plate! You can see that over half of the fish is completely missing. I'm curious to hear what you guys think the size of this fish was. Quote
midnighthrasher Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Must have been a beast!!! I would say 7lb - 8lb Quote
OHIO Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Probably somewhere around 8. That sucks that it died. It looks like it has some monster fangs. Quote
Missouribassman95 Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 What species do you think it was? Pike? Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted May 17, 2011 Author Super User Posted May 17, 2011 No pike in California. Lake X is a private bass lake, full of monster bass. Quote
"Lunker Hunter" Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Ok I am guessing the fish is about 24 to 28 inches long and a girth about 18 to 20 inches. Using the (length x length x girth ÷ 1,200) to calculate I will use 26*26*19 = 10.70lbs. Quote
bman310 Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 No pike in California. Lake X is a private bass lake, full of monster bass. Check out Lake Davis in California. They have had a Pike problem for many years. http://www.dfg.ca.gov/news/news08/08009.html brian Quote
piscicidal Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Looks like something from River Monsters Yeah, in this partially decomposed state it kind of looks like a payara (vampire piranha). Quote
