I'm headed out into the same mess this morning as well.

I dislike fishing in the rain but have had some success at times.

If I catch I don't mind being a little soggy, but when I don't, it's less fun, OK it's miserable especially when it's cold and windy too.

I'm throwing jigs and soft plastics to pre-spawn fish.

Good Luck

Iv always had luck with grubs like fat alberts or plain ole mister twisters. Then also the mini chatter baits with a grub trailer. Basicly anything with a grub swimjigs u name it.

I have always liked top water in the rain poppers/jitterbugs. As long as its not pouring buckets that is. Just a little rain or slight drizzle and top water seems to work good for me.

Tried some spinners, a popper and the black and blue jig and the jig won, one dink and one nice female at least 4 1/2 lbs, not a bad day

When it rains I've had more luck on cranks or something with a rattle over a sight bait like a worm or jig I always thought the rain made the fish less afraid of something loud because of the disturbance in the water. But that's just me

I had my best fishing trip, number wise in the rain. If the fish turn on you can throw anything, but more important to take the right rain gear so you are not meserable out there. Good luck!

When it is raining the fish look up. A buzz bait is my first choice, also top water lure or a spinnerbait work well.

I remember JT Kenney saying that he always had luck on a spinnerbait in the rain even if they werent hitting it before it started raining. This time of year could also be good for topwater. When I get home on Wednesday I'll be out in this and I can tell you a spinnerbait and a crankbait will be tied on in addition to a texas rigged plastic or if I want a big bite I'll go to the jig. Good luck and stay dry my friend!

I've been bass fishing since the 70's and I have had some of my best days in the rain. In my experience, the worse the weather, the bigger the fish.

I fish big spinnerbaits, topwaters and jigs. If you can find an incoming wash or stream, make sure to hit that spot throughly.A lot of critters get carried into the lake or pond during a good soaking rain.

Finally, that is when I hit all the golf course ponds, because few, if any one, is playing.
