Scorcher214 Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Thats tough. You do not want it to heal improperly though.
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 16, 2011 Super User Posted May 16, 2011 geez, yall act like its a major life threatening injury. athletes often play through injuries, delaying surgery till after the season, and come out just fine. cut the kid a break. and hey, if he wants to learn things the hard way then let him, thats the only way for some people to learn anything. 3 days extra of no cast probably didnt make or break this kids life like many of you are acting. some injuries might require emergency surgery, sometimes youre sent home and have to wait for surgery till the 'swelling goes down'... Athletes getting paid......yes, Athletes looking to get drafted.......yes, Athletes hoping for a scholarship...yes This kid probably NO to any of the above. Good old fashioned common sense would have answered his question without a post. 1
lynyrdsky1 Posted May 17, 2011 Author Posted May 17, 2011 Went to the doctor everything is fine I do not need a cast like he thought I did sorry for opening up a can of worms on here. Pun not intended haha. Also tournament went well first tournament that I weighed in 5 fish.
Super User Grey Wolf Posted May 17, 2011 Super User Posted May 17, 2011 Sometimes your private life should be left private !!!!!!

Super User J Francho Posted May 17, 2011 Super User Posted May 17, 2011 This has to be the third post or so about his hand. Many are probably wondering why all the drama. I mean, last week his doctor wanted it in a cast and now it's nothing? C'mon man....
Super User Lund Explorer Posted May 17, 2011 Super User Posted May 17, 2011 and many of yall thought the guy was going to retard his hand for the rest of his life... The concern many of us have isn't that it will be for the rest of his life, but for "later" in his life. A quick look at many of our profiles will show that we're mostly part of the grey haired bunch of this crazy family. More importantly, is that many of the dark haired group may not realize is that many of us are going through the very aches and pains that we're trying to warn him about. Aside from a tendon in my right thumb that locks up every once in awhile, most of the abuse I put my body through resides in my knees. I'm sure the rest of these old farts can give their own war stories about parts not working like they used to. There are two lessons that most folks could learn from this discussion. The first is that we all thought the same way when we were younger. Secondly, is the fact that when someone asks for an opinion, you're probably going to get one. 1
jeremyt Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 I am glad your hand is better. You must have tiger blood and adonis DNA if you go from needing a cast on Thursday to all healed up on Monday. We should all be so lucky.

We should all be so lucky. I think the Dr. was over exagerating to begin with. But hey, sorry for starting this thread lets just end it before it gets worse. Thanks for all the advise given though, it was not ignored.
tyrius. Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Went to the doctor everything is fine I do not need a cast like he thought I did Then I'll give you another piece of advice. Find a new doc. This one is either dumb or you're not telling the whole story.

I went the time after I messed it up at practice and it was swollen. He xrayed it and nothing was broken but he wanted to cast it because the tendent was inflamed. I asked him not to so he said just tape it and come back the next week. I did yesterday and he said everythings fine but he wants me to come in 2 weeks to see how it is then.
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted May 18, 2011 Super User Posted May 18, 2011 and many of yall thought the guy was going to retard his hand for the rest of his life... Learn to comprehend. No one said he was going to "retard his hand", whatever that means, for the rest of his life. They said he might cause further permanent damage. That is simply common sense, based on what he said the doctor told him. Just because some folks who are heavy smokers live into their 90s and beyond does not discredit those who tell you smoking can be harmful to your health, and you're better off not smoking.
Super User J Francho Posted May 18, 2011 Super User Posted May 18, 2011 Alright guys. Here's the thing, don't ask for advice if you already know what the answer will be, and already don't like it. On the opposite side, no sense beating a dead horse, I think he gets the picture. See ya!
