Hello Everyone, :)

My name is Josh Clanton. Im from Yukon, Oklahoma, which is right outside Oklahoma City. I've fished for years, but nothing too serious just out having a good time. I mainly fish at the central lakes here in Oklahoma. Lake Hefner, Overholser, Arcadia, and Thunderbird. These lakes are highly fished yet, there are some big fish still in them, i just cant seem to catch them. I now own a boat, yet it's more of a party/wakeboard boat so not really the best fishing boat. Figured id introduce myself as i plan to start taking fishing more serious.

I tend to go for bass, crappie, walley and catfish. I enjoy catfishing because it's relaxing, yet my favorite is bass and walley. I have been reading alot of articles lately and decided that im going to try and start fishing with Senko's and plastics. I used to catch alot of walley and bass on plastic worms texas rigged and carolina rigged at lake hefner, yet sizes were nothing to brag about. I'm really more of a shore fisherman, yet plan to maybe sell my boat near the end of this summer and buy a nice bass boat with trolling motor, live wells, all that good stuff. Once i get more experienced ill join in some tournaments from time to time to try and see how i do. More for the fun then actually trying to become a professional.

I hope to continue to recieve alot of information, and ill try and post my progress and what tips i can provide for others on my endeavours. I will say that this is the best forum online for new anglers, or professional anglers. Lot's of information that can help beginners.

I will be fishing alot at Lake Texoma this year, since my fiance's mother has purchased a lake house there. So if anyone has any information on good spots, or good gear to use out there, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and hope to be around for a long time.

Welcome aboard.

It's been 20 years since I fished Lake Texoma (lived in Durant). Is it still a big Striper lake?

Yeah, it's still a huge striper lake. June really is when it takes off so hopefully i will be able to get out there a couple of times next month and be able to land a few. I just dont like fishing with live bait really, which is what alot of them fish with. So im gonna try some spoons and drop shotting some senkos possibly.

My fiance's mother lives in Mead, Oklahoma. They moved there and opened a furniture store in durant. So we are usually there once a month, and many times in the summer. You need to come back and fish it some more. Still lots of fish to be caught, just myself havent caught much.

There is a pond on Main St & Mustang Rd right next to a library, that is supposively pretty strong. I have yet to fish it. If you find any good spots please let me know as i would like to try them out.

Welcome fellow Okahoman :), I live in Guthrie and from what I hear Lake Guthrie is supposed to be one of the best saugeye lakes in the state. Lots of Walleye in there too. Personally I fish mainly some private land, but there are a few good pond/lakes here in town to get your Bass'in on too.

Thank you very much sir! I have actually fished Lake Guthrie in the past, caught about 4 2lb saugeye. Never any walleyes or anything else though. Fished it 2 times. We will be going there in the upcoming weeks for some catfishing. The dam on it is actually a great spot for catfish if you have goldfish or bluegill.

I've been to Guthrie Lake and also Liberty Lake there in Guthrie. Both good spots with alot of shore fishing.

Yeah the dam dam usually has a few people parked there, here lately I have been fishing around the docks and the southern shores around the neighborhood. The crappie were biting really well a few weeks back, but it's gone kinda cold with the recent weather. The same at Liberty too.

I'm not much of a catfisherman, I don't have the patience. I guess it's ok though cuz you can set up a bell on the tip and cast the rocks on the dam for Saugeyes, LMB, Sandies, and anything else that might bite. I've heard there are even small mouth in there, but without seeing proof, I'm not sure that I believe it.
