DJHolly22 Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Ill be deploying here in the next few monthes, and knowing that when i come back with some extra saved up cash, Im looking for ideas on a new rod and reel either combos or sepereate rod and reel....does anyone have good suggestions on where i should look, i used to fishing with a 6 ' med. action ugly stick and have used it for close to 5 years, figure its time for a new rod and reel.... Depending on how much you want to spend, the rod is a different story. If the Ugly Stik works for you, I would just get another, but maybe a little longer like 6'6" or 7'. If you want a higher quality rod, but not too expensive, I would get a Berkley Lightning Rod or an Abu Garcia Vendetta. This is all assuming you are talking about spinning rods and reels. Quote

For freshwater I like a floog supreme 30 or 35,(don't need the xt ), shimano clarus or my new favorite a calico jack, which I'm using about 80% of the time. Quote
