Demo rode a Skeet FX21 this weekend with a Yamaha VMAX SHO and all I have to say it that it was VERY impressive. I was never a big Skeeter fan and was really going out to see how the Yammy SHO performed compared to the Merc Pro XS my buddy ran on his Stratos. Skeeter has come a LONG way and I was very impressed on the boats SOLID feel when cornering, jumping wakes, and running WOT on pad. The Yammy SHO is incredible, was most impressed with hole shot, I had to ask the demo driver to do it a few times so I could realize that we were out of the hole in literally 50 or so feet. Boat was fully loaded with tank, two 200lb men, and a full tank of gas. Anyway, if anyone is consider buying a boat soon, go ride a Skeeter powered with a Yamaha SHO before making a purchasing decision. A new Triton owner that was on the dock after my ride basically said if he could he would return his NEW ride and buy this boat and he wasn't full of it, cause his Triton was sitting tied up to the dock.

If I were in the market, the SHO would definitely be my new engine.

Catt,

The darn thing feels like one solid piece of machined aluminum, no vibrations, rattle or flex at all. Wish they made it with a non skid deck with all SS hardware and on a full aluminum trailer, I'd buy one. Wish I could have ridden it in a little rougher water though to really see how she rides, the deep 20 Degree V should help it out, if that thing runs like a Champion in the rougher stuff than all bets are off Skeeter wins!

Like their ad says "Engineered like no other"

Aluminum Torque Transfer Transom & Stringer System: This revolutionary system bonds high-test aircraft structural aluminum to the EX-Cel transom and stringer to eliminate hull stress.

Aluminum Deck Grid System: Aluminum structure provides superior support and strength, with lids that close tightly and lock securely.

Composite One-Piece Floor: one solid piece. It is composed of a PVC crosslinked foam, sandwiched between layers of fiberglass.

EX-Cel Composites, for the Industry's Strongest Hull: The transom, stringers and floor utilize aerospace derivatives known as EX-Cel composites, which provide outstanding strength and durability.

I ran the FX20 on Toledo Bend in about a 2 1/2 - 3' chop, it was smooth & dry. Many anglers will say my boat can do that but what the fail to understand is on Toledo Bend you must stay in the boat lanes which means you are running with the chop, across the chop, and into the chop from all angles.

I think if someday money becomes no object. I'll get a Skeeter with the SHO.

Did you buy it? I'll pay for the gas every time I'm in it! ;)

Almost pulled the trigger, but can't justify it since I really like a non-skid deck like I have on my Ranger, was really thinking hard about buying a Big O Boat.

How much does a new boat like that run? How shallow can they run? I know they have a bass/flats boat design and it is a popular style boat in florida. When I make the trip down there I see several people using them. I can't help but wonder why many people don't have them here in Tennessee to run up the rivers? When I get the chance to buy a new boat, it will probably end up being a flats/bass style design.

I did pull the trigger my brand new FX 20 is in Production now. This will be my first Skeeter and I couldnt be Happier with the entire Skeeter Team. Everyone there has been very helpful. I just left the owners tournament even though my Skeeter isnt ready yet. I have to say the ride is remarkable and I cant wait till pick up date. I will post pictures then

I wouldnt take anything in the world for my skeeter and the new sho is awesome. Had mine a little over a month now and you really cant compare that to any other outboard. Runs 72 loaded with two people and you cant even hear it running. These motors are deffinatly the future of outboards.

I rode in the same boat(20' Skeeter) with a 225 SHO this weekend at the Southern Open. There was a light chop and a lot of boat wake. The ride was not as smooth as a Champion but the boat felt as solid as a rock and very near a Champion ride quality. As for the Yamaha SHO, WOW!!! What a motor. The boat seemed to jump on plane. If you are in the market for a motor you owe it to yourself to look at this one and I would not hesitate to buy a Skeeter either. Rode well, handled very well....Al
