Super User Goose52 Posted May 10, 2011 Super User Posted May 10, 2011 5" grub rigged weightless and weedless on a 1/0 EWG. Quote
ROCbass Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 I usually fish them on a 1/8-1/4 oz round jighead. I'll either crawl them on the bottom or swim them back. Vary the retrieve until you find something that works. I like the Zoom Fat Alberts. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted May 10, 2011 Super User Posted May 10, 2011 Good bait that alot of people don't fish. I like to fish them on a jig head or a mushroom head,T-rig,C-rig,split shot, drop shot (small grub),mojo rig,as a swim jig trailer. Quote
dulouz Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 I love fishing them t-rigged. 1/8, 3/16, or 1/4 oz. the lighter weights work really well for dragging as a top lure across slop. Quote
SwimJigs Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 The only way I fish a grub is on a swim jig, I mean, why fish it any other way? Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted May 10, 2011 Super User Posted May 10, 2011 Swim it, jig it, hop it, drag it... Quote
tholmes Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Swim it, jig it, hop it, drag it... All of the above Jig heads, t-rigged, c-rigged, all of these will work. Try 'em all and see what the fish will fall for. Tom Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 10, 2011 Super User Posted May 10, 2011 In the hands of a skilled & knowledgeable angler with a good assortment of terminal tackle a grub is the closest thing to an all around lure you can find. T-rigged weighted, t-rigged unweighted, jighead rigged ( and there´s a big bunch of jigheads styles from where to choose: conventional, shakey, underspin ) , C-rigged, live bait rigged, d-shot rigged, split shot rigged. Flangler Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 So I went to a pond in my apts and threw the grub around. I put it on a 2/0 offset hook with a bullet weight and was just swimming it. I think I had it upside down , but I corrected that. After that quick fix I started to catch fish. I didn't even think there were bass in there. So far, I LIKE IT! Maybe I should of been fishing them sooner... Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 10, 2011 Super User Posted May 10, 2011 The only "problem" with grubs is that their small size makes them numbers bait, but hey, there ain´t nothing wrong in ketchin a truckload of smaller fish. Notice I didn´t say : "you can´t catch big fish on a grub" before somebody comes and says my pal X caught a 30 pounder on a grub, heck I´ve caught some nice fish with a 00 size Black Fury or a 3 inch grub but I don´t do it all the time and it´s not the kinda bait I would choose first to go after the big gals. The thing is, grubs are very productive baits and can be fished in many ways. 1 Quote

I have fished a 5 in. grub and I have caught alot of big bass over the years. If you put a grub where the big ones live they will eat it. I fish grubs in deep water in the summer so my bigger bass meter goes up. I am not saying your wrong so don't get upset with me. just my two cents worth. Quote
Flangler Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 I was fishing them today and caught alot. They were all in the 2-3lb range...I'm happy...just another reliable to-go bait in my opinion...Thanks everyone for the input! Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I fish them almost always on a shakey. But I also do fish them on c rig, t rig, or jighead. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted May 11, 2011 Super User Posted May 11, 2011 I love them on a jig, but I'll fish them t or c-rigged as well. Quote
