I am looking to get a froggin' setup. I dont want to blow a bunch of money on a rod for a frog specific setup so lets keep that in mind. I am willing to spend up to $300 maybe $350. Right now I am looking at a Veritas heavy xfast with a Revo SX. Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I use a Falcon HD 7' Heavy paired with a quantum burst spooled with 65lb braid. Works like a champ pulling fish out of slop. However I would recommend a better reel. I hate that quantum because it dosent ever want to cast good for me. Maybe im just to accustom to Shimanos.

BINGO

Go with the 7-6 MH fast and the SX HS Revo. I have 2 of these setups with vendettas. I use one for a frog and one for skinny dipper/heavy worm rod. I fish them in the thickest heaviest crap you can think of and have no problem dragging them out of it. The longer medium heavy will give you greater casting distances, takes up the slack in the line faster on hooksets, and gives you more leverage to keep their head up to get them out. The HS Revo also helps to get them out quicker.

My frog only rod is a cheap 50 dollar berk lightning rod 7heavy with the quantium burst and 55lb power pro. Its been working great don't care about having a super sensative frog rod if u can't feel a fish or see a fish take a frog somethings wrong. Plus no need to feel that lilly pad u can see with your naked eye. Like clancy though I hate the reel my AR bearing went in mine it works 60% of the time the rest the handle just free spools and smashes your knuckles on the hook set.

On the other hand I have the 76mhf veritas with a revo sx hs and love it it would make a great frog rod but its my jig and heavy plastic rod because of the sensativity thing.

I fish frogs with my Loomis 905 flippin stick (7'6") heavy. No need to build another rod for froggin.

I have used various in my quest for the ONE! From Daiwa's Light and Tough, All Star's Big Boy, Loomis Frog, and now I have a Dobyn's Champion Series. All of the rods excelled, but the Dobyn's balanced better. I used a Zillion and now use a Revo Skeet Reese model, that I love since the drag is incredible and can pull the big girls out of the weeds.
