BuckyKat Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Stopped in to one of the big boxs for another bag of senkos and found a few local tournament fishers filling baskets. They were into the Zooms, GYBC, Netbait, etc and I noticed a couple filling up with Big Bite items. Got my attention so I asked and they said it does catch fish. The trick stick looks identical to the senko although I don't think it's as fat, just a hair under I believe. For 1/3 the cost I picked up a bag, upon opening IMO texture isn't quite as mushey (salt content?) and there is more of a plastic smell to it but I still am looking forward to fishing it. Haven't had a chance to see what kind of action they have in the water but will drop one in the kitchen sink tonight. As the title asks, anyone fishing it? Quote
ROCbass Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 I bought a bag years ago, used them a few times and never caught anything. I probably didn't give them enough of a chance though. I don't really like using senkos or senko type baits for the most part, with the exception being a 3" senko on a dropshot, which I fish quite a bit. I still have that bag, maybe I'll give them another shot this weekend. Quote
Flangler Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 I've fished them and have caught fish...They don't have the same texture. But they work well. You'll be happy with them. Fish them the same as a Senko and you'll be surprised. I think they have a bit more action then a Senko in my opinion, 1 Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted May 9, 2011 Super User Posted May 9, 2011 I thought they were less active than a Senko. The tail taper is kind of goofy, it's almost like the mold didn't fill fully. I'm sure they will catch fish, much like any Senko style bait, yet they just didn't shimmy like the original. What I did like about them is that with a nail weight, they really glide backwards a long ways. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 The Big Bite bait is called a Trick Stick, it is the same exact bait as The Chapman Baits Trick Stick, the Gander Mountain Trick Stick and the *** Trick Stick. I don't know who the original manufacturer is, but from what I understand anyone can resell Trick Sticks and slap their own name in front of it. As a bait it is great. Nothing is as great as the senko, but these are very close, and have the added bonus of lasting more than one fish. Quote

Guess I'll never have to agonize over which brand of trick stick to go with, just grab the most cost effective one. I've added some juice to let this bag soak in and am feeling really confident. Fat-G Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 I was unaware that they were all the same. Interesting to say the least. Quote

flippin and pitchin Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I've been fishing Big Bite Baits products for about 6 or 7 years now. The baits I have used and continue to use perform well and are great values. They have a great color selection. I especially like and fish their tubes. 1 Quote
Hamby Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I'm gonna try ***' trick sticks this season. It's $6 for 25 5" ones! If i don't like them as much as others, at least i have many for my brother to use when he's in my tackle. Quote

Hey Bucky!!! Who better than a Georgia boy to prove these baits work. (since that is where they're made) lol b Didn't realize that BrentB. Thought they were out of Alabama but that's ok, it's right next door. Bassking, those small paks for a buck must be the same that our local Academy Sports have for .99 in bargain boxs. They are promo paks that I think they are getting rid of, they contain half the number of baits that a regular bag does but for less than 1/2 the regular price so it's still a good deal (a buck gets you enough bait to experiment with to see if you really like them). Our place has 5" & 6" T-Sticks, Cane Sticks, Kriet tail worms and one other bait I believe in the box. I'm glad I went thru them because I found a bunch of 6" sticks in Kiwi color which I don't see offered on their site anymore. I haven't even fished it yet (kiwi) but I think it's going to be a killer. Quote
Gotta-go-Fishin Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I took the family to the 2010 BassMaster Classic in Birmingham. We spent most of our time at the expo. Every time we walked past the Big Bite Baits booth they would give us a sample bag of product. It had a finesse worm, a squirrel tail worm, a trick stick, a kreit tail worm, and a fighting frog. We tried the baits the next time out fishing and were amazed at how well the fish bit. My wife caught a 7.5lber on the fighting frog. I have caught many, many fish on all the baits listed above. These baits are great. The price is just an added bonus. If you will fish them, you will fall in love. My boat is loaded with Big Bite Bait products. 1 Quote
ArkieHawg Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 I use big bite baits plastics relegiously. Every 5lb+ bass I've caught this Spring so far came on a Carolina Rigged 6" Kreit Kreature. I've also been throwing the flying squirrel lately with good results. They're Bush Pigs are identical to Zooms Brush Hogs, only cheaper and available in Bulk. I used them all Summer last year with excellent results. Just because something costs more doesn't mean its automatically superior...however, that's what the tackle companies are banking on. Quote
Canga Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 i havent tried the trick sticks yet (at least the big bite version, i do have some gander mountain branded ones) but i did pick up a couple bags of the cane thumpers to try out and compare to the berkley grass pigs, the cane thumpers have a little scent (not overpowering, like some others) and 1 more in the package for the same price, and they are pretty similar otherwise, a little different design for a similar purpose. i have also done pretty well with the bio-bait grubs and fathead minnows, for both walleye and smallies. these do have an overpowering scent, and are a little more expensive, but still a good product. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 15, 2011 Global Moderator Posted May 15, 2011 I've caught some fish on the trick stick but senko style baits aren't my favorite so I don't fish them a lot. I've got some of their 6" finesse worm that I like a lot for shakey head fishing because the nose isn't as narrow as a Zoom Trick Worm so there's more plastic to screw onto the jighead. I also got a couple bags of the 10" Kreit worm. That big thick body and short hooked tail should move a lot of water. I'm looking forward to fishing them a little later this spring. 1 Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 I just went through a bag of Dean Rojas Fighting Frogs really quickly the other night. The fish mauled them. They were eating them faster than I could repair them with mend-it. I switched to a brush hog, and nothing. Once my mend-it dried, it was game on again. Might've been just the right bait at the right time, but they wre crushing them the other night. I'm a believer in Big Bite now. Quote
Punkinseedfyretailz Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 arent they the guys who make the squirrel tail worms????? aparrently they are a hot commodity right now Quote
Gangley Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I have had decent luck with their Yo-Mamma. I am interested in their Squirel Tail since I havent seen anything similar to it before, but I am not really sure what the intended method of fishing for it is, shakey head maybe? Quote
SausageFingers Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Can't speak to the trick stick but the Squirrell Tail worm has been pretty productive for me. I recently picked up a pack of the flying squirrell's in "easy money". Looking forward to giving them a go. Quote

ArticWolf Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Big bite baits is amazing honestly I’ve beej using GYB and yum for years and this summer I decided to try big bites cuz let’s face it the price point is amazing..... so far I’ve gone out twice to my usual spots and I live in an area that is pretty tough to catch bass at. I caught 5 in an hour on just two worms , GYB just doesn’t have the durability of other companies and I feel like the bass like the sweet smell big bites uses also fished a tourney yesterday at a reservoir with 8 people and it was flooded and terrible nobody caught a single fish besides me, I caught two in 5 hours. Both on my new secret bait powerbaits chigger craw and I’ve always hated this company until this year also. I think we let name brands and marketing do too much thinking for us Quote
Brew City Bass Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 This might be a new record. 7 years! haha Quote
WVU-SCPA Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 A smaller lake I know is on a burner if you show up a squirrel tail on a shaky head.  Replace the plastic,  catch rate drops drastically.  Have taken it elsewhere and haven't saw the same results.  Right thing at the right time. Quote
