I am looking for a casting rod under $100 for fishing soft plastics with light weight. Mostly senko's with nail weights and weightless. I am on a strict budget so I can't go over the $100 price.

You might try one of the Field and Stream tech spec rods, I've heard good things about them. The Berkley Lightning rod shocks seem pretty nice also for the price. In the upper range of what you're looking to spend I would look at the Abu Garcia Vendetta, probably as nice as you're going to get for under $100 after tax.

Bass Pro Shops Carbonlite-CL69MHTXF.......99.99 XF.

Abu Garcia Veritas-VR69-6.........................99.99 XF.

Shimano Compare-cpcx66mhb..................99.99 XF.

Here are a few that fit your criteria.

Looks like some good suggestions so far. \

Have you thought about checking into getting a used rod? I've been able to pick up several barely or slightly used rods in my local area for great deals. Never a bad thing getting into a better rod if u can afford it. Who knows, maybe u can get into a $175 dollar rod for less than the $100??

If not, I'd like to throw out the St. Croix Mojo Bass Spinning Rods. I haven't tried their worm rods, but I know 2 guys who are killing it with the St. Croix Mojo Bass Drop Shot Rods, and they are doing it at a very tough hi pressured city lake.

You should also go to a local shop and see how the rods feel.

Good luck to you.

BPS Carbonlite. 7'0" MH fast. Great rods for the price.

Skeet Reese Senko Toad. Horsed tons of fish out of reeds and grass with them.

You might try the Cabelas Prodigy or Cabelas MagTouch both are $99 in spinning and casting models. One of the MH or H models depending on the cover is withing your budget. The Field and Stream Tec Spec rods are $60 and $50 with a $10 online coupon and extended warranty is $8. I have several Prodigy rods and just picked up the Tec Spec 7' MH tube/jig rod and it works very well. One of my prodigy rod is my current spinning crankbait rod and very happy with the sensitivity for a moving bait rod.

I second this. I use both the Tech Specs and the Lightning rod shocks and love the hell out of them. Most of my budget for gear is in my boat payments so I have to be tight as well. Also look at Ebay for some used stuff. I just got a Veritas for $58 bucks.

Another vote here for the Veritas...

You can also try the Skeet Reese Jig/Worm rod, also very nice and you can find them on sale often at Gander.

I have both, both are excellent rods.

I can't vouch for it's sensitivity as bottom contact rod, as I haven't fished it yet, but I just bought a 7' MH Abu Garcia Vendetta on Amazon (actually came from a place called Red's Gear) for less than $50, shipped. Bought on Tuesday, showed up on Saturday, very well packed and in perfect condition.

Check with Delaware Valley Tackle. He's a sponsor here. My daughter prefers to fish plastics. She liked using my Fuego, so I ordered her a 6'6" casting rod. Pink of course! (She's not using a Fuego on it. Color clash! :D ) I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
