joshholmes Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I came across this bait at TW and it is probably the most lifelike painted frog i have ever seen, but heres the catch. ITS $61.00!!!!!! i wouldn't even pay that much for a swimbait. Any oppinions on this and would you be crazy enough to try it? heres the link: http://www.***.com/Moreau_Baits_3_Topwater_Frog/descpage-MB3TF.html?from=bfishin Quote
Super User Marty Posted May 8, 2011 Super User Posted May 8, 2011 I wouldn't consider it for one second if it were 25% of the price you quoted. That paint job is undoubtedly pure artistry, but bass don't see the fine detail that we do and that lifelike finish will impress people much more than the fish. Besides, I'd be scared out of my wits to use it in the pike- and pickerel-infested waters that I fish. Quote
zenyoungkoh Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 I wouldnt get it. I wouldnt buy a $61 frog when a frog that is <$10 can outfish it Quote
Mattlures Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 If you fish from a boat then I wouldnt be worried about loosing it. It floats and it doesnt even dive. I havent heard anything about the baits fish catching yet so I cant help you there. If I was a big frog guy I might try one. Actualy I would make one but thats just me. However I am not a big frog guy. I just wouldnt be afraid to fish that bait if I had it. Quote
zach t Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Never understood the need for artistry on a reaction bite bait. Shrugs. Quote
Primus Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I'm that crazy guy, but only paid 50$ for mine because I bought it direct from Moreau. This is not a mass produced plastic bait that come from a mold, these are hand made and are absolutely beautiful baits and they take lot of labor to produce. It has a large profile for a 3" bait and I'm very impressed with it in the water when I gave it a test swim. While it's not for everyone I sometimes buy baits like this to have something different to show the fish as I already have several proven selections/ colors of your conventional spook/ popper style baits. Also, this came very highly reccomended to me from another angler who had a lot of success with this bait and Moreau's 4" Walking Bluegill bait which I've bought as well. We are getting into prime topwater season up here in SW Michigan where I live and these baits will certainly get a lot of looks from the fish in my area. I will follow-up after the fish give me their feedback. Quote
brushhoggin Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 if i won the lottery i would get ONE as a collectors item. beautiful bait. but they're to be use with treble hooks??? Quote
