New Vmc Hooks

I've seen these hooks on fishing shows and I've seen them rigged on the front hook of the bait and the back hook, which way is better? It's a normal treble, but one of the hooks is longer and bigger. They look pretty sweet, and are stupid sharp. Thanks for any help guys.

I know rapala has baits where both hooks are the vmc ones. Many don't like them at all, that's all i know about them. I had a few baits with them, and i took the front one off to reduce my chance of snagging. Didn't notice much of a difference in hook ups, but i don't fish cranks too often.

I don't fish them much either but I figured when I do I'd set them up with what I seem to think are nifty can't miss hooks. Thanks for the info.

BTW they're called VMC Sure Set hooks. Google them, they're not very new so you can find plenty of info about them.

Yeah I looked at the package after I had posted. For some weird reason I already have loads of confidence in them even though I've not used them before. I think it's just they pure meanness of the look of the hook.

Their OK as long as you use them in open water , anything else and their more trouble than their worth. JMHO

my fav is to use them as rear hooks on jerkbaits (x-raps, etc) and topwaters (pop-rs). almost like having a trailer hook for short strikers and slashers. many smallies have been hooked just inside the bottom lip by that extended hook.

They're terrible for more reasons that I can list. I was fishing with a friend last week that hadn't changed the sure sets out on some DTs. The fish were really eating the baits, with many having the full bait in their mouth. The fish that would inhale mine with the KVD hook were easily removed and had no harm. Those fish that ate his were about 98% bleeders from the length of hook. They ended up gill hooking. Four ended up as floaters. That's one reason I hate them, another is that they tend to deep hook. They also are very prone to snagging. They're also prone to bending with relative ease.

I won't call them the worst hooks ever, but they're really far down on my list.

Thanks for the bit of info guys. I think I will just keep them in my box for days when the fish are just hitting short or slapping at the bait. Won't load up all my baits with them by any means. Thanks again

I haven't noticed a huge difference with the number of hookups with them but the do seem to pick up a lot more weeds than regular crankbait hooks.

I went out this morning and gave them a shot. Second cast and boom! nice 2 lb fish. I rigged them so the bigger hook is pointing up. I didn't see any noticeable difference in weedage but so far I'm 1 for 1 with these hooks.
