Flywatersmallie Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I just can't get the graphite frame on the Caenen. I played with them a little bit last fall and just felt something was missing. Might want to look at the Lews Speed Spool. Awful lot of reel for $100 Quote
BassThumb Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 You can find new Citicas for under $100 on eBay. Quote
Greed Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I own both a Caenan and a Curado and the Caenan is hasn't failed me yet. I wouldn't go and say it's as good as the Curado but it's not too far behind it quality-wise. I use my caenan with a 6'6" MH rod for my spinnerbaits and crankbaits and can cast 1/4oz lures a good distance not as far as I could with my Curado but far and accurately nonetheless. Quote
Clancy Wiseman Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I own two of them. I have used Caenens,Citicas(owned one for a while also), and curados. IMO its just as good as the Citica. And almost as good as a curado. Its a very light reel also. Caint go wrong with any shimano tho! Quote
breezy Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I don't own one but made a few casts and pitch on a demo setup they had. They had a curado on the identical rod too. It was honestly hard to tell a difference performance wise between the two. The reel felt solid and I would have assumed it was an aluminum frame. I prefer aluminum frames but that may just be for piece of mind. You can shop around and find a citica, revo s, etc under $100. BPS Pro Qualified is a great deal also at $100 MSRP Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 12, 2011 Global Moderator Posted May 12, 2011 I don't own one but a couple of my friends do and they love them. One of them hasn't ever had much luck using a baitcaster but he has had no problems casting his Caenan. The only complaint both of them have is the shape of the grip. They both put reel grips on it though and said it felt fine after that. One of them was fishing with me the other day and we were both using LC 78 pointers. I was throwing mine on a Curado 50E and he was able to cast almost as far with his Caenan. Quote
philsoreel Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I would go with the Citica on ebay if I had to stay under $100 but I would spend another $55 and get him a Curado 50E. The Curado 200E can be found for $142 maybe less on ebay but the 50E...I own Core 50's and think the Curado 50E is an awesome reel. Quote
