bipr8 Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I planned a trip to Plattsburgh from June 13th-16th. I know it is hard to tell with this crazy weather, but will that be during the spawn? Prime spwan time? A little late/early? Any insight would be great. Thanks. Quote
Super User webertime Posted May 10, 2011 Super User Posted May 10, 2011 I saw an interesting fact on our local news last night about Champlain. I guess Friday or Yesterday it hit 103.5', an all time record. Back in May of 1993 it was at 101.38'. That year with a dry May (2 inches below normal precip.) it took 27 days to for the lake to drop 3'. So by the time you come up the Spawn should just be getting started but the spawning areas should be a bit different as we'll still be at about 100' (2-4' higher than normal). The water is 47-50 right now according to a buddy of mine that went out yesterday (20 smallies, 3 @ 4+lbs). So not a super concrete answer, but things are pretty messed up right now. Quote
UPS VT Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 The smallies should be on beds. The large-mouth will probably be post spawn. At least down on my end of the lake they will be. Up north there may still be some fish on beds. It will depend on how much the water warms up the next few weeks. Quote
riverfisher Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Video shows recent conditions out of Ti. There still catchen'em!! Quote
