When it comes to working the shoreline at night I have 3 lures that just seem to outproduce anything else I've tried. The Arbogast Original Jitterbug, Heddon Crazy Crawler, and a black buzz bait. I was thinking since the first two of these have been out on the market for about 300 years, there has to be something else. What night time top water lures have you guys found that can hang with these 3 for working the shoreline?

Haven´t got much luck with buzzbaits ( actually zero luck with any buzzbait ) , the Crazy Crawler isn´t exactly my go to bait, Jitterbug ---> I concur completely. Arbogast Sputterbuzz ( formerly sputterbug ) and Heddon Torpedo. Which bring an interesting question, buzzbaits don´t work for me but the Sputterbuz does <_< .... go figure  .

The only topwater that I ever throw at night is a jitterbug.

The buzzbait bite up here for me has been pretty much non-existent for 3 years. It kills me, because I used to do very well with them. My go to topwaters are a spit'n image and a spook jr. Both work great for me day and night.

I had some luck on a jitterbug at the end of the season last year. Didn't do much night fishing though. I can tell you that fishing topwater at night sure did help with my reaction time. I had the bait come flying back at me a couple times because of how close it was to the boat. Quickly learned not to set the hook until i feel a fish haha.

Dark buzzbait or Zara spook with a slow steady retrieve are my favories. I've started to stick more with the buzzbait, it's alot easier to deal with a fish in the dark caught on a single hook. Plus if I forget to wait to feel the weight of the fish before the hookset the buzzbait doesn't fly like a bullet back at me when I miss the fish!

1. Bagley Bulgin' B wake bait.

2. Buzz bait.

3. Horny Toad.

My favorites are:

Black jointed Jitterbug

Big wakebait like the Rapala DT Fat 1 or Xcalibur XW6

Zara Spook

It's not topwater, but a black and red 1/2 oz spinnerbait with single Colorado blade fished just under the surface is by far my best producer.

Lucky Craft Sammy 100. It is noisy, easy to located, and makes a nice wake.

A black buzz bait is my main topwater bait at night - especially the Boogerman Magnum Racket Buzz (1/2 oz). But I've also done well on a Strike King Rage Toad or Rage Shad and the Stanley Bull Ribbitt.

I have done well with the Jitterbug, especially in ponds. During the alewife spawn we throw a lot of jerkbaits but typically just use a very slow retreive to make a slight wake to catch Walleye however I end up catching just as many bass. Last year towards the end of a fishing trip I tied on a strike king, king shad just for kicks and ended up catching a walleye and 2 bass and had several to miss the bait so I will be using it again this year. As far as a buzz bait I have done ok right up until dark but for me that bite has died after dark. I may just need to get confidence by throwing it more.

Throw a small waking soft swimbait. I dont sell mine but I use them. There are several brands and they are all similar.

It doesnt have to be this one and I havent even thrown this exact one but as I said they are all pretty similar. Get a line through with very little weight.

Black Buzzjet, 4 inch!!!!!!!!! Fish it fast, slow or even deadstick it at times, it works great! The snook around here also seem to like it alot too.

If the water is calm, the moon is full, and the mosquitoes are at bay, i do really well dragging 8" Zoom lizards across the surface in and around pads and weeds.
