For those of you who watch this program and think that those Cajuns are just a bunch of ignorant trash, be advised that most of those folks make a Very good living from their endeavors. At least one of them is a millionaire I'll give you a hint. Tonight, he's fishing with a lady..

I watch it all the time and thoroughly enjoy the show.

I do fing it odd that someone with such high regard for the English language, cough, cough....such as yourself, would be interested in watching the show with the way they butcher every word coming out of their mouth. :hammerblows:

I watched it once. My favorite swamp person is the Swamp Man on the Ax Men program. He plays the part of the backwoods hick very well. Torn off sleeves, torn edges on his shorts that were apparently regular pants with the leg torn off above the knee, his loyal dog Willie, or is it Willy, and his sordid assortment of hick helpers are all part of the image.

One thing gives him away. His hair. It is always neatly trimmed.

Coming in second as interesting characters are the competitors dragging logs from the bottom of the river in Florida. They look, and act like a bunch of hicks. They are anything but their television personnas, or is it personnae.

That show cracks me up. My 11yr old loves it. I actually think I get dumber as I watch though. It would not surprise me that they are loaded. Making 350.00 a day for catching gators? they aren't that dumb.

The problem with most of these reality shows is that they only focus on a small part of these people's lifes. I mean just how many gators can a Yankee watch getting blown away before we start thinking there must be something more?

Where's the Crawdad Fishing?

I was just glad the man got his dog back. I watched the chain of episodes last night. I guess being from the south I can relate somewhat.

How do you know he is a millionaire? Not saying you're wrong, just wondering.

Making a million dollars isn't really a big deal, I'm sure thousands of BR members have done it, it's only 50k a year for 20 years. Having a million bucks is different story, kinda tough to do that on only 3-$400 a day, gross income.

They only do this for a month or so out of the year. So I am sure they have other sources of income.

Gators bring in more than $300 a day it’s more like $300 a foot ;)

When asked by reporters why they didn’t try to take Bin Laden alive one Seal said we did until some yelled “Choot em Clint Choot em”

Bassn, although I wasn't born there, I grew up in that environment. From the age of six until I went to college I was among Cajuns. Back then, in the sixties, many spoke more French than English. The accent you hear from the Swamp folks is a wretched French/English/Creole mix. It means that they are ignorant, not stupid.

While in high school I had the great good fortune of having an English teacher who abhorred the Cajun accent, so she refused to allow the wretched English in her class. I learned an awful lot of what not to do in her class, and will be forever grateful.

As for the millionaire? They found oil on his property.

I enjoy the show, keeps me entertained, doesn't require any thought. I really love how when you look close you see ALOT of spliced togther footage. One second the have a bolt action rifle and the next it's a Ruger 10/22. You can see it with the boat engines too. None the less I keep coming back.

As for Troy having alot of money I'd believe it. Did anyone see the episode last year where they showed his entire property?

Hey! That has the makings of a winning television show. They take the big bucks, and head west, living their swamp lifestyle among the rich and famous. Pet alligators in the cement pond and all. The possibilites are endless. Whatta ya think?

Good for Troy! He's probably my favorite character on that show. Fun loving, down to earth guy, from what I can tell.

Sort of reminds me of backin the day when you could go to Hot Springs, AR and see them dumb, ignorant hillbillies selling water to them brilliant yankees - and the government owned the water. ;)

Nah, something like that would never work, You would need to have a cute, young blond with a perky bussom to make the show a success. That said, if you could replace her with a couple of nut-case brothers who have the combined IQ a tree ... :D
