Deep Throat Hooks

I accidently bought a pack of Gamakatsu Deep Throat Wide Gap hooks instead of the usual Offset Shank Worm EWG.

Can anyone tell me the performance advantages and disavantages of this hook as well as it's best applications?

Does it really make a difference if I use either type of hook?

The Deep Throat has a longer point section, longer by far. They say it leads to deeper hook sets, deeper in the mouth. I'm unsure of the accuracy of that statement. I do like the hook, however.
