Mikey6strings Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Im looking to put it on a 6ft med/hvy. What is the best bang for the buck! Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Pflueger President. One of the best bang for your buck spinning reels can be found for just over $50 on sale. The XT can be had for $68 Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted May 5, 2011 Super User Posted May 5, 2011 Shimano Sahara. It has a higher gear ratio than most in that size. Quote
OHIO Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Pflueger President. Yes sir. Best spinning reel for the money. Quote
jignfule Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Pflueger President. I own six shimano and one pflueger president. For the money I think your right. Quote
Mikey6strings Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 what is the difference between the president and the xt and what model compares the the 2500 in size Quote
Flangler Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Are you guys referring to the sonara? I thought the sahara was 80. I;m probably wrong. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted May 6, 2011 Super User Posted May 6, 2011 Are you guys referring to the sonara? I thought the sahara was 80. I;m probably wrong. That is its MSRP. However, there are places like Ebay where they can be bought for less than MSRP. I would also pick the Sahara. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 6, 2011 Global Moderator Posted May 6, 2011 Sahara, if you look around you might even be able to get the Symetre for that price. One of the local tackle shops has the new model for 79.99 everyday price. Quote
stkbassn Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Im looking to put it on a 6ft med/hvy. What is the best bang for the buck! I agree about the President and Sahara. The other one you may want to check out is the Daiwa Exceler 2500...it's a pretty sweet little reel for the money Quote
northern basser Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Another vote for the Pflueger president or president xt. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 what is the difference between the president and the xt and what model compares the the 2500 in size The XT has an aluminum body as opposed to graphite. Stasher1 Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 If you're in the Atlanta area, my local Walmart has their Presidents in the 35 size on clearance for $45, along with a bunch of Sonora 2500s for $35. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted May 6, 2011 Super User Posted May 6, 2011 I haven't used a sahara, but I bought a president about a month ago and I love it. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 For $2.99 more, you can have this reel. http://cgi.ebay.com/Pflueger-Supreme-MG-8035MG-Spinning-Reel-/120718201148?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c1b5d913c In my opinion, one of the best spinning reels going. Quote

Uh...correction. This reel is from Taiwan, so I doubt it is authentic, but the Pfluger Supreme is an incredible reel and can readily be found for $79.99 (which I know is more than what you stipulated). Quote

Canga Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 i would spend an extra $5 (if there is a gander mountain locally) as they have last years gold pflueger supreme xt for $80 in store. if not, pflueger arbor, president, president xt (but only if you hate the wood handle on the normal president) are all solid options as far as size, im pretty sure the 30 size pfluegers would be the size of a 2500, 25 size is a bit small unless vertical jigging, in my opinion on a side note, if there is a gander locally, take a look at the $40 diawa exceler, i picked one up even though im a die hard pflueger guy, and its a pretty nice reel for the money, hell you can get 2 for your budget!
