To all you Pa guys,

I'm moving to Hershey in June from NJ. I won't have a boat, so I'm wondering if anyone has some reccomendations for good bank fishing. Here in NJ, there are tons of parks with lakes that are easy to walk around or small ponds and reservoirs that a pair of waders could give you great access to. I'm looking for some similar spots in the Hershey area. If anyone would like to get together around that time that'd be awesome, too. I'll be moving out there on my own.

Thanks,

Kenji

Susquehanna River is close by... I'd start there, best smallmouth fishing in the area (I'd argue that next to Lake Erie, the Susky is probably one of the best smallmouth fisheries in the country). As far as lakes go, Pinchot is close, Redman and Williams is near there too. Many of the streams in the area have smallies in them too, but I'm not too familiar with the streams in that area.

Thanks for the heads up. I was definately aware of the susky, but didn't consider it for bank fishing. But I guess if it gives off some streams I can fish them. There's a river near me now called the Raritan, and its full of smallies. I've recently become quite fond of fishing this type of water. Nothing quite like a river-pumped smallie and these streams can produce huge numbers. I'm definately looking forward to it.

I'm going to look into the other places you mentioned.

The Pa fish commission has a ton of resources to help you find places to fish. Whether or not they are any good is for you to decide!

Look around their site too. They have free maps that show access points and such that you can order off the site.
