southtexasbassin Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I am looking into investing in a Minn Kota Trolling Motor with IPilot. Anyone have opinions, reviews, or experiences with IPilot? Quote
scrutch Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I am looking into investing in a Minn Kota Trolling Motor with IPilot. Anyone have opinions, reviews, or experiences with IPilot? Best thing invented since the hook. You'll be thrilled with it. If you have the chance, DO IT! I love mine. I can fish in strong wind and current where other TM's cannot hold the boat. Spot lock is the shizznit! Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted May 5, 2011 Super User Posted May 5, 2011 Went fishing 2 weeks ago with a buddy that has one on his boat and needless to say, my current trolling motor is for sale!! Spot lock is worth its weight in gold. If your not fishing with an ipilot, you shouldn't be on the water! And thats my honest opinion! Make sure to get the terrova if you want to keep foot control. The powerdrive you only operate via the remote! Jeff Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted May 5, 2011 Super User Posted May 5, 2011 I have the Terrova with iPilot. Words cannot express how much I love it! Quote
Dam Yankee Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I have one and if it broke and warranty was out I would buy another. I get a lot of strange looks when i am standing on the back deck fishing a spot on spot lock in a strong wind. I also like the track feature. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted May 6, 2011 Super User Posted May 6, 2011 I forgot to mention that I have a Lowrance HDS-8 with side-scan mounted on the console. The transducers are mounted on the stern Using the iPilot, I can put the Terrova in the water at the bow and steer the boat while sitting at the console and watching the side-scan. It just doesn't get any better than that! Quote

It just doesn't get any better than that! I do this exact thing! (except I'm a Humminbird guy) It's a LOT more comfortable scanning from the console too! No more sore backs! Also... Get the largest thrust you can afford. You might need it if you plan on using that spotlock in the wind. I have a Terrova 101lb thrust with iPilot on my 18 foot bass boat. It's NOT too much thrust. scrutch Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Oh one other thing... I don't know what kind of boat you have but if you want a 36 volt TM, first make sure you have the room for the three batteries. Quote
