ever had any luck in julington creek for bass??  Ive been thinking about putting my boat in there but worried its too brackish.  Fished Governers creek down in Green Cove last weekend not knowing much about it and had a guy at the boat ramp tell me bass are few and far between bc of the brackish water.  Saw a bunch of Gar in there and that's never a good sign lol

Hi, I can vouch for bream in Gran Bay. I fish a few retention ponds in Mandarin, St. Augustine Rd FMA once or twice and a couple parks off San Jose Blvd. Julington creek when the boat works. Lots of great info on here. I'll be sure to share some when I find a pond to write home about.

Are there any fishing friendly golf course's in Jax? I like to fly fish, most ponds around dont have room to cast from the bank.

Isnt the FBI building the one that's posted for no fishing?? Or am I thinking of something else.  If its fishable I like the sound of 10lbers and places for small boats

Just to clarify they are not spring fed. They are just clear retention ponds. There are a few others around. alot depends on the outlet structure and if it keeps the water moving. Small fish are typical because most these ponds down here are newer built in 2007. Biggest I got outta there was 3 pounds. But ton of little fish, fun spot I take my boys there. If your looking for bigger fish, the FBI is in the right area. North got older ponds, check out the Tinseltown area, them ponds connect with big under road culverts. Google earth it.

I've heard good things about the bass fishing in Julington Creek. Put in at Clarks Fish Camp and fish back towards the back of the creek.

I went out this morning and managed to catch one but it was a nice one though. Can I get a estimate on how much she weighed. I didn't get a measurement because I was trying a new pond and I didn't wanna keep it out of the water for too long.

There's a big pond next to the fscj building on beach blvd. I caught a 4 pounder and lost another of equal or bigger size throwing worms up against the building portion that's in the water. Haven't tried the other side of the pond yet

Lol I think my son brings me the luck. I was just telling him I would rather catch that one big fish this morning besides 20 dinks. Then 5 minutes later this one hits my frog. He loves to see the top water bite but I think it excites me more.

I'll have to try it out sometime. I've been to Clark's several times and just thought it was to far north on the river. Doctors lake is a little big for my current size boat.

Nope. Got all kinds stories n spots from this guy. Now I wouldn't head in towards downtown much farther. And if your fishing doctors especially your libal to catch just as many reds.....wait til it is hot n roll back up julington and hit the mats and pads. Here is one he told me they launched outta mandrin and they fish the grass line of the old folks home with the waterfall caught something like 15-20 to place pretty high. There's fish. I think if you stay back in like Clark's and durbin you would have too much trouble navigating. You ever drive from 13 julington creek road you can see all the small feeder creeks and people have small boats and docks.

So your saying you'd launch up at the 13 bridge and work towards Clark's rather than launch down at Clark's? My boats only 10ft w a trolling motor I could definitely navigate the area as far as I can see around Clark's. I saw some of the small creeks off the main water on google earth I'd definitely hit those.

Either. Both are options, I am saying if you launch at 13 you don't need to go too far. Just gives you different fishing options, styles and scenery

I'm up in jax for the next few weeks for work, originally from west palm. I tried that industrial park on the beginning of the post but didn't have so much as a bite. I'm staying in the extended stay on butler off 95. Tried a lake across the street with no luck but went out to big island swamp yesterday afternoon and caught a pig. If anyone has any good spots near by or wants to go fishing I'd like the company.

I've really been looking for natural ponds around town...I just drive and look. I will have to check out the tinseltown places....I found a pond off off atlantic in the back of sutton lakes...pretty big! I walked the whole pond, found a bass top feeding, casted on it and it bit instantly. was about 5 lbs and was healthy! However I caught a bass that was all cut up from teeth marks...scary

Just letting everyone on this forum in the Jacksonville area know my buddy and I have been fishing Sundays lately and doing really well even with the high temps.  Last week we caught about 20 fish between the 2 of us and each caught our new personal bests.  It was a great day.  I try and stay around the Southside area because I hate to drive too far and be unproductive.  Got a lake at my shop with great numbers and a few verified 6lbers in it.  Good thing is there are only about 2 people who fish it because you have to have a key card to get in.  Just bought a 13ft square back canoe and having some work done to add fiberglass benches and storage boxes.  Just need to get the trolling motor.  Can't wait to get her in the water in these small ponds and lakes.  Always looking for new fishing buddies willing to meet up.  I like early mornings usually.  PM me for contact info if you're interested in swapping spots or meeting up.

willing to take someone out with me to fish lake off of ricker rd. (private jea property with 8 houses on it) My friend rents a house on the backside and we trenched his backyard all the way to the lake. I have fished towncenter and all of skinners lakes. He will run you off unless he knows you. I live in OP. I just moved back from orlando and this lack of lakes is killing me! I have predator and I am not afraid of traveling. Also I can get us on asbury every now and then, I spray a guys yard on the lake and he occasionally lets me get out there! awesome lake! Looking for some public access lakes and some new fishin buddies. Would be cool to get a few pond hoppers out there one dday and have a little 20$ tourney!

Forgot to post in here about this...

I created a group on Facebook called Jacksonville Bass Anglers for us local guys to talk about what's working/techniques, post our catches, and link up with eachother. We have about 50 members so far a bunch from this site, I sent out a few PM.

We plan to hold a couple bank tournaments through convos we have found 3 spots that would be ideal for a bunch of people to bank fish. Depending on how many people we get it would probably be $25 or so and take like $5-$10 to go to the big fish. Eventually we would like to try to go the route of forming a Bass Fishing Club but that would be down the road.

So check it out just search for Jacksonville Bass Anglers on Facebook

[if this is against the forum rules I apologize and you can delete this. I sent 2 of you a PM before I went on vacation and to my understanding it wasn't but if I was wrong I am sorry]
