I just got new fly line and will put it on my reel this weekend. Has anyone ever tried KVD Line&Lure on floating fly line, and if so did you notice an improvement? Thanks

I don't really see how it could hurt anything. I'd assume that it would help with casting, especially if you sprayed down the guides. Line and Lure is some good stuff that can be used across a wide variety of applications.

No, no, no, and no. Anything that creates any deposit of anything on a fly line is a bad deal. I love the KVD but it won't get anywhere near my fly lines.

Get some Armor-All wipes, they work very well. Periodically strip the line down to the backing and pull it through a rag soaked in warm water and dish soap to clean off the algae and dirt. Let it air dry, then as you reel the line back on hold a wipe in one hand and have the line run through it to give it some lube/polish/protectant. I do this about every 4 weeks.

About twice a year, if you use it a lot, take off the line and soak it in warm water & dish washing soap to clean the oils off. Wipe it off with a clean towel. Let it dry over night. Use a good fly-line dressing (I like Scientific Angler's) and put it back on your reel. It will last for years. I would avoid putting anything else on good fly-line. JMHO

Alpster has it dead on. I wouldn't use anything like Armor all or any sort of wax or polish on fly lines. Anything that deposits on the line surface attracts dirt and grime.

I don't like using KVD on a flyline, but I do use it on my leaders. I've tried KVD a couple times on the line, and it gives the line a bit of a dry, tacky feel and it reduces the shooting distance through the guides and through your hands. Like Alpster said, warm water, dish soap, and a good dressing are all you need. I use SA or Glide dressing. They both are good products. My line is about 10 years old and aside from a few nicks from being stepped on, it handles as good as new.
