fishnabarrel Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Has anybody else tried these baits? They are Zara spook look alike but they are rigged weedless to get the walk the dog action on top of weeds. I've had a little success with them but what kind of luck have you had? Quote
basser89 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 There was a good post on these way back when these first came out. I'll see if I can find it. I had a couple packs of the smaller ones (which were recommended in that old thread. I've had limited time throwing them but I have caught bass with them. Quote
basser89 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Here's 2 old posts on these. Bassin_Fin@tic had some great info on these. Quote

Super User webertime Posted May 4, 2011 Super User Posted May 4, 2011 Mine always sit nose down, regardless of hook size or line type. I was thinking it might be the eyes that make do that. Any tips? Because I WANT to like them. Quote

GTrombly Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I haven't had much luck with them yet but haven't really given them a fair shot. I had a hard time getting them to "walk" on top of the weeds. Quote
fishnabarrel Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 Maybe it has something to do with the rod reel line combo that is used along with it, any ideas? Quote
GTrombly Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Maybe it has something to do with the rod reel line combo that is used along with it, any ideas? Should probably use frog-type gear. Going to need a heavier rod to set the hook and pull it out of the weeds. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I use a 7ft H rod with a 7:1 gear ratio reel spooled with 65lb braid. It serves both as my frog rod and my money hound rod. The money hound is a great bait, just have to learn to fish them. The are a little harder to walk than a spook, but once you learn, they walk good and catch big fish!! Quote
fishnabarrel Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 ill be trying them again tonight, 6'6 MH rod with 50lb braid Quote
Punkinseedfyretailz Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Throw it in Lilly pads work it like a bronzeye Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 6, 2011 Global Moderator Posted May 6, 2011 I had really good luck fishing them through sparse weeds last summer. I was fishing them just like a zara spook only on my frog fishing gear. Fish were blasting them but they don't last very long and aren't cheap. Quote
fishnabarrel Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 yeah i agree with bluebasser, i caught 4 last night around dusk, the fish would explode on the bait but the money hound wouldnt last more then 2 fish, Quote
