Frogs, Toads?

Never used either one of them before and i was loking into getting some. Is there really a difference and if so which one is better and how do you use it?

Spro all the way. their bronzeeye frogs are awesome. i just recently picked up a spro popper frog. only used it once  but great action.

I could be wrong, but I've never heard of any specific differentiation between a "frog" and a "toad."  I think that is just a matter of terminology (i.e. some people say buggy some say shopping cart).  

As for how do you fish them; it really depends on what brand you are using and under what conditions you are fishing.  You can fish them weightless as a top water bait.  This works well around lily pads and/or grass.  You can Texas Rig them, and bounce them on the bottom or around trees.  This also works very well.  You can even swim them.  Really, you can fish a frog any way you can fish practically any other soft plastic lure.  You may want to look into special frog hooks.  I recently bought a pack for the first time, but I haven't had an opportunity to try them out yet.  My wife caught her personal best large mouth with a T-rigged Paca Toad Sr. on a fallen tree.  Good luck.

Spro bronze eye frogs and bronze eye poppers. I also like scumfrog poppers too. If you want a floating frog with paddle feet, Stanley's ribbit is the best.

I have never had a killer day on the lake with any of these types of baits. i would like to try the spro bronzeye frog though. i have tried the ribbits,horney toads,and scumfrogs. and they have produced very little. not that they dont work, they just dont work for me. i find for the ribbits they are more of a search bait. they locate fish but i get a lot of short strikes. i can go behind them with a devils horse or torpedo and catch. but in the slop? im sure they are great, just not for me.

I don't know if it's the "official" terminology or not, but it seems like most folks consider the bigger hollow bodied baits, Frogs and the solid plastics, usually with the paddle tail feet, Toads.  Frogs are often fished slow, in heavy cover. But they walk the dog in open water really well too because they float.  Toads are usually fished faster and buzzed across the surface. They sink.

I love the Stanley Ribbit toads, but have a new bag of the Rage Tails ready to go for the MN opener this weekend! Hollow bodied frogs do behave differently too. I think the Reaction Innovations Swamp Donkey's are really easy to walk and they don't fill up with water fast like some others do.

I recently picked up a pack of the rage toads and let me tell ya I love em!  Caught two nice size bass in a matter of five to ten min.  I like that they dont spin under water and twist your line up like some of the other frogs ive used.

I've had luck with the cheap floaters (Manns, Scumfrog) and Ribbits and the Hardnose Swim Toads.  I think once the water temp get's right you can't go wrong.  They'll all catch fish.  Go with a Spro frog and I doubt you'll have any issue, as the action has to be better than what I've been throwing.  I think any of the "buzz" frogs/toads will do the trick, but Ribbits and the Rage Tail seem to be the favorites.

Yup, Rage Tail all the way!! The action is AMAZING!!! In fact, I don't know what I'm gonna do with all the other bags of assorted frogs I bought over the winter.

I recently picked up a pack of the rage toads and let me tell ya I love em! Caught two nice size bass in a matter of five to ten min. I like that they dont spin under water and twist your line up like some of the other frogs ive used.

I just bought some rage tail toads and some Gammy EWG 5/0 hooks i cannot wait to get out there and try them !

oh youre gonna love em banger,  toss them out in front of some weeds and just wait for it! a medium to slow retrieve has worked well for me.

headed to bps and geting some rage tails. what size hook do i need and do you rig them like a worm or what?

go with 5/0 ewg hooks.  rig em just like a worm just make sure to keep the back pretty straight so it swims right.  check out the video on the main page,  it will tell you just what you need to know.

I love the Spro Bronze eye frog.  Caught a bunch of fish on them.  id say about 80% of the fish Ive caught have been 3 lbs or  more.  I personally like the albino white and rain forest green colors. Im gonna need a new albino white full size, my leg was ripped off the other day.  Good use of it, you can see a whole bunch of bite marks on the back.

Well, Itossed my new to me ragetail toads at the local city park pond tonight..I learned one thing real quick, you better have that t rigged hook really Striaght or the toad/frog swims wierd..lol

Action on these things are sweet, didn't get any fish though..next time

the spro frogs are awesome as stated above...The new panther martin frogs look awesome!! has anyone tried them yet??

ok guys, I bought some of the rage tails and went to a pond today. loved the action. had one boil on it and that was it, wasn't out long. going tomorrow and i'm gonna throw them. thanks for all the info.
