brushhoggin Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 lake fork swim shad or yum money minnow. are you throwing out in open water or in the shallows through heavy or light cover? it sounds like you should use what you caught the pig on. you just want a more durable swimbait? Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I like the Strike King Shadalicous. The Yum Money Minnow is ok too, but my favorite soft plastic swim bait is the LFT Live Magic Shad. Also, RI Skinny Dippers are good too! Quote
hmongkidBee Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I would go with the basstrix swimbaits. Durability is okay, but man do these babies catch bass or what. Quote
Thad Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I would go with the basstrix swimbaits. Durability is okay, but man do these babies catch bass or what. x2 Quote
fishnabarrel Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I've always been a money minnow guy, but I've never tried basstrix, are they split belly? Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted May 4, 2011 Super User Posted May 4, 2011 I seem to have trouble rigging the Basstrix. I can't get them to swim well. Shadalicious work well for me, and I can split the belly myself to enable better hooksets. Quote
airborne_angler Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 What about the Luck E Strike Bass Magic. Anyone use them and like em? I scored on a Wal Mart Clearance sale and have a bunch of them. Id like to hear about some success stories with them prior to trying them out,so I dont feel im wasting my time. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted May 4, 2011 Super User Posted May 4, 2011 Berkley Split-Belly Swimbait The Basstrix is probably the most stable of the bunch (least amount of "tail-wagging-the-dog").. However the paddle-tail of the Berkley Split-Belly is activated at slightly lower speeds. I guess the choice between the two would depend on which attribute you deem more important. As for realistic finish, I'd have to give the nod to the Split-Belly Roger Quote
bassking1976 Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 thanks guys for all the replies i was using a money minnow in foxy shad thinkin i might stick with that brand size and color just wanted to see what other people thought....what color is everyone having luck on? Quote
joshholmes Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 pearl or perch related colors work best at my lake. Quote
hookset on 3 Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Like Chris at Tech said, the Strike King Shadalicous is a pretty darn good bait for mass-produced. I too, cut my own belly slice in them. Colors Clear water-sexy shad, blue gizzard shad. Size: 4.5 inch Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 5, 2011 Super User Posted May 5, 2011 Well now...wadda ya think? http://anglerschannel.com/content/bassmaster-elite-series-pickwick-hite-hangs-8th-bassmaster-victory Quote
