Flangler Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I haven't caught anything out of canals yet, and was curious to what lures or techniques are used to catch bass. If there is anything different. Thanks Quote
Shane Procell Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 No different than any other body of water down here. Try plastic worms both weightless and texas rigged, any type of shad rapala (4-6 ft. divers are mt favorite). Spinner baits and top waters like the heddon torpedo or pop-r's. You can never go wrong with a garry yamamoto senko. Quote

Super User Bassn Blvd Posted May 4, 2011 Super User Posted May 4, 2011 Sounds great! It hard sometimes to find a canal that has any kind of structure or anything viable to fish.. Are you kidding me? What canal in S.Florida doesn't have a car, shopping cart, bicycle or some other piece of trash in it? Quote
Shane Procell Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I was at sawgrass last week and saw the BSO and a tow truck pulling up a car and a suv. Fished in the miami lakes canals a few years back and looked down and there was a car down there as well Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 4, 2011 Super User Posted May 4, 2011 The E-3 canal runs behind my home, I've caught a lot of large bass there this year, but no more. The water level has dropped and IMO the bass are seeking deeper water, they're gone. I was as hot as could be there and as of 3-4 weeks ago it stopped, haven't been bass fishing in about 2 weeks now. My fishing interest has turned elsewhere, bait is everywhere and a lot of really nice fish are being caught. Quote
gar-tracker Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 One of my best canal baits when the water got low was a 13 inch worm, drug across the top or sunk with a 1/4 ounce weight. Charlies used to make thee big paddle tails, this time of year they were deadly. Quote
