I spooled a spinning rod w/ 20lb power pro and added an 8lb yozuri hybrid leader (approx 6 ) using a double uni knot. Not on fish, but when I get snagged and try to pull in out it always breaks at the knot, never down the leader. I assume the braid is cutting the leader? Any suggestions or reasons? Thanks.

Sometimes that'll happen with the double uni knot if it isn't lubricated well enough before tightening. The braid will cut into the leader, weakening the knot.

Try an albright knot. Never had this break at the knot. I used 20 pound braid mainline and a 50 pound flurocarbon leader (Toothy critter setup). Have not tried it with a light fluro leader so dont know if you will have the same luck with lighter line but may be worth a shot.

Good luck.

Never had a uni yo uni break, but as was said, lots of spit is needed. Also, I do at least 8 loops with the Yozuri, and 6 loops with the braid. I have throw 4oz swimbaits on this and never had a failure. One other note: if the loops look all funky, retie, the loops should look like a nice hangmans knot.. B)

I prefer to use light braid with my spinning gear, mostly 5 and 6lb braid. I had the same problem but found if I doubled the braid before making the uni knot cured the problem.

Learn the alberto knot, stupid easy to tie, and strong. It has impressed me, can withstand jig hooksets,in heavy cover, with H powered rods, on multiple 4 and 5 lb fish with no issues. I have gone to all braid as main line now, and will add the leader as needed.

The Alberto (or double Albright) works well for me. Breakoffs always occur at the lure end and not the leader knot.

I'm going to try the Alberto and also double the braid for the uni.

Thanks.
