Bass Afishinado Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Didn't get a chance to fish for long due to weather conditions. About 45 minutes to an hour. Caught one walleye on a L.C. Stayzee. It appears to be a great spot for smallies if the water will ever warm up, and the weather will cooperate. An aluminum boat seems like it would be safer out there - rather than the fiberglass. Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted May 2, 2011 Super User Posted May 2, 2011 Hey.... You made it back to shore! I was wondering if you had gone out there when I saw the winds that morning. Hopefully that walleye at least gave you a couple of nice filets for your efforts. Quote
Sfritr Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Even from the warmer confines of Cincinnati i was watching the weather outlook opening morning and wondering if you made the run out there. At least you didn't get skunked. During calmer days during late spring and summer that spot can be dynamite for big brown footballs. As you saw, it can eat up a boat if you are not careful Glad you made it back safe Quote
Crankenstein_MI Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 That can be one of the best days of your fishing life, or one of the worst. I always tell people to go out in groups if you dont know that area well. There are some rocks a mile off shore there that can put your life at risk. There are rock reefs that extend of those islands that can put a world of hurt on ya. You are right about the aluminum boat. I have found myself fishing the great lakes more and more, and not fishing inland as much. I am thinking about selling my stratos and buying a Lund Predator ss. Check that think out: http://www.lundboats.com/boats/2011-aluminum/predator/2010-predator-boat Quote
