Best Spray On Scent???

Sometimes I want to put scent on plastics to disguise my own scent more than anything but hesitate to put on any of the gels because my hands will subsequently stink and my wife can't stand the smell. I could obviously prepare and bring disposable gloves, but I'll forget more often than not. Haven't heard may good things about spray ons but figured it may be a good idea to have some on stand by in the boat. Any recommendations???

For spray scents I like the Bang brand the best. They offer 4 different scents- garlic, shad, craw, and a combo of shad and craw together.

If your careful, I would recommend JJ's magic. I have found it to be so much better than anything else because the stuff is potent. If you use JJ's on a plastic and dont throw it away before you stow your gear, the next time you open that storage, your going to be wondering who snuck in and stashed a loaf of garlic bread? JJ's comes in small bottles that can easily spill if your not careful. I have been nursing 4 bottles for over a year now and as long as you treat it like platonium you will be ok. When you do get it on your skin, it smells like you were smashing garlic with your hands. Not exactly roses, but not rotting shad niether. Being a scent/dye, they offer 4 different colors (i think). Chartruese, blue, metholate, and clear. I think they may have added another color too, not sure though.

Bang is very easy to carry and simple to hit a lure every cast with little mess.

Another thing you can do is use plastics that come with the scent already added.

I Prefer Rage Tail, YUM, and Berkley Powerbait plastics with scent added the best. With these brands the baits are not drenched in the scent helping to avoid stink fingeritus.

YUM recently released a new line of scents called their F2 line. I am def trying this sometime this season too!

Personally I say skip the spray on. For the most part, as soon as your freshly sprayed bait enters the water, the scent will wash right off. Just look for the tell tale oil slick around the area where your bait splashed down.

Megastrike is a rub on attractant that does not leave your hands all stinky. JJ's Magic is a dip that will leave your lures smelling like garlic for months. You won't have to worry about human odors with either of them.

Megastrike. It stays on your plastics better and will mask any unwanted scents your plastics may have come in contact with.

I've never been convinced that any of it works, but I favor Kick 'N Bass or Bang. I figure it can't hurt.

Not always. After a healthy shot of Bang on a crankbait, the slick will still be visable, when pulling the crank out boatside, after several retrieves.

In the world of bass fishing there is 2 words that I absolutely believe are the wrong nomenclatures, fish finder is one and attractant is the other.

I prefer depth finder & worm juice!

No substance known to man will "attract" bass when applied to your lure but there are many that will make the bass hold on longer. Salt cooked into the plastic and 100% anise oil (not essence) are at the top of my list of "best".

I use "worm juice" for two purposes first as a lubricant because I fish in grass a lot and the "worm juice" helps my plastic baits slide through easier. I use Fish Formula II or Baitmate (clear) with a ½ oz of 100% pure anise oil added; this is to mast any odor my plastic may have pick up.

Fished with a guy this weekend - we were both throwing black/blue Senko's, but he had put some Kichin Bass in the bag to let his soak - he outfished me 4 to 1. Don't know how long he had been letting them brew, but it really seemed to make a difference.

For masking a rub on like Megastrike probably, but overall (and I fish Nor Cal exclusively) I like Gulp better.

Yea I've found that my wife is repelled by that one too. Now I use it even on days I don't go fishing:)
