Red Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 If y'all like Navy SEALs you should read a book called "Lone Survivor." You will really know how badass they are after reading this book. Warriors to the max.
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted May 3, 2011 Super User Posted May 3, 2011 His body was dropped into the sea from a helicopter. I would like to have the spent shell casing(s) that took him out. How cool would that be?
Super User clayton86 Posted May 3, 2011 Super User Posted May 3, 2011 "Lone survivor" is one of the best books I have ever read. I couldent put the book down especialy durring the final chapters about the fire fight. Marcus latrell is one hell of a SEAL. Another good book is "Not a Good Day to Die" it goes behind the scenes of spec ops as well I haven't finshed it yet but its a good book so far.
Super User Dan: Posted May 3, 2011 Super User Posted May 3, 2011 Isn't there something in the Muslim religion about not allowing non-Muslims to touch dead bodies?
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 3, 2011 Super User Posted May 3, 2011 There are a number of U.S. Embssys, American business people, press and travelers through out the entire mid east and Africa. By not adhering to Islam law the possibility of reprisal is heightened, now they want revenge. I happen to have a sister and niece traveling NOW and this concerns me greatly. To paraphrase what Sec. of State Clinton said, The best policy is diplomacy and supporting the creation of democracies through out the region, democracy is the best weapon against terrorism. I don't know about anyone else........BUT I'M GOING FISHING!
Super User Catt Posted May 3, 2011 Super User Posted May 3, 2011 When asked by reporters why they didn’t try to take Bin Laden alive one special ops guy said we did until some yelled “Choot em Clint Choot em”
jack1 Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I suppose they could have handled the disposal of his corpse a bit better. A part of me says, "Screw'em...this was something this man started...many of those folks who died on 9/11 never got a proper burial." The other, "Have to do things right, whether we like it or not." 1
Super User bilgerat Posted May 3, 2011 Super User Posted May 3, 2011 I can fully understand your feelings and the desire to seek revenge, so maybe you'd be interested in this. It seems that a deceased Muslim is supposed to be washed/cleansed and dressed appropriately prior to a burial which should be done within 24 hours. Unless of course that person died a martyr's death and is therefor buried in the clothing/state in which the martyr dies. By performing this ritual, Osama lost out on his martyrdom and all those virgins! Hope that makes you feel better, because revenge is ALWAYS a dish best served cold! I understand, I was just venting. I'm glad they did not take him alive. That would mean lawyers, riots wherever he was held, appeals, delays, etc. It would not have been fair to the victim's families. I'd like to think they (the Seals) all peed on him before unceremoniously kicking him out of the chopper into the ocean. No doubt he stunk from crapping himself in his final moments. I hope his virgins all look like him...Virgin Wool comes from ugly sheep
Super User Raul Posted May 3, 2011 Super User Posted May 3, 2011 Isn't there something in the Muslim religion about not allowing non-Muslims to touch dead bodies? I think there are plenty muslim service men in the US military that can most probably willingly do the job of morticians for cases like this.

I guess the old bartender came out in me there for a bit, and nobody knows useless information better than an old bartender!
Super User Raul Posted May 3, 2011 Super User Posted May 3, 2011 Y´all wanna know why he was buried at sea ? Cuz down deep, right at the very bottom, he ain´t as a bad guy as everybody thinks he was. 2

Not to mention any Al-Queda nut job kidnaps a serviceperson hostage and asks for Osama. But, more importantly, I think it sends a message the US will bloody your noise if you are our enemy. It seems like the military these days has to fight the real war and then the PC war on CNN. That is not fair to our servicemen to second guess their judgement when they are getting shot at.
fishingkidPA Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 glad he was eliminated .....but there are many willing to take his place.....
Super User slonezp Posted May 4, 2011 Super User Posted May 4, 2011 When asked by reporters why they didn’t try to take Bin Laden alive one special ops guy said we did until some yelled “Choot em Clint Choot em” How many tags does Bin Laden fill?

Super User Dan: Posted May 4, 2011 Super User Posted May 4, 2011 Huh? I'm not sure I get that post either. If it was serious. No, I'm pretty sure almost everyone will agree that he was, in fact, that bad of a person and the reason he was buried at sea was to avoid as much outcry as possible. 1
Super User ww2farmer Posted May 4, 2011 Super User Posted May 4, 2011 It might be best for the mods to lock this one down before things get ugly. I don't know what to make of Raul's remark. 9/11 wounds run deep, go tell a WW2 vet that Pearl Harbor wasn't all that bad, or a Concentration Camp survivor that Hitler wasn't a bad guy. Joke or not Raul, probably not the smartest thing to say. 1
