ToledoEF Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Lews tpro tt review I am gonna give this reel a shot. Quote
SwimJigs Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I bought one the other day. Slowly and surely I will replace each of my Revo STX's with one. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted May 2, 2011 Super User Posted May 2, 2011 TT is saying the same thing I and a few others on here have been saying since they came out. And did yall notice what rod TT has it on? Yep, that's right. Loomis NRX. I have 2 T-Pro's on NRX rods, which makes a super sweet combo. Quote

Super User Bassn Blvd Posted May 2, 2011 Super User Posted May 2, 2011 Sometimes in life you have to do things without being able to reasonably justify them. Bro, get one. Even if you have to save 50 bucks a month for darn near a year. Quote

flippin and pitchin Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Regardless of what rod you use, the Lews has been a surprise, a nice one. Some of us took the chance early on and most have been very happy with their performance. I certainly am. I was throwing an LC 78 yesterday during a tournament and darn near spooled the reel on some casts. If you have smaller hands, this reel is for you. Big performance from a small package. They deserve consideration. Now, will they produce a retro Speed Spool ? That would be sweet. Quote

Vafthrudnir Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 said they have a bb series in the works I looked one over at a shop and I was very impressed with this Lew's reel. All of the controls worked so crisply and I loved the matte black finish. After reading TT's review and these comments here I just might replace my aging Fuego with one. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Okay you old dogs, who was the trick caster for Lews in the 70's and early 80's ?????? Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted May 2, 2011 Super User Posted May 2, 2011 A great review by TT for sure. And lots of satisfied owners so far. This is a fine reel for sure. What I found MOST interesting is the TT photo of the lockwork under the handle-side cover. Anyone having a BPS Carbonlite (or PQ or Abu Revo) will immediately recognize the layout. Even the Lews frame looks similar (or perhaps is the same) as the Carbonlite frame. Most of the parts are probably the same as well. So, it's interesting that some folks are fawning over this Lews reel, but some other folks are saying that a Carbonlite or PQ is a ticking time bomb that will self-destruct after a "season". And yet this Lews, while having added bearings and an upgraded drag (and a slightly different centrifigal brake), is probably a Carbonlite at it's core. Regardless of it's origin, I will bet that this reel will give great service (as will a Carbonlite or PQ). One thing for sure, the "Lews" name is a big draw and getting lots of buyers ! Quote

trevor Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 http://www.lakesidereels.com/servlet/the-555/Lews-Tournament-Pro-Speed/Detail Excellent service, too. The other day he pulled me up a receipt from a year ago, very quick and nice. He has awesome prices, and always free shipping. Quote
zell_pop1 Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Not saying this is not a great reel, but after their review of the Ardent reel I would not put much stock in what TT says. Quote

Super User Goose52 Posted May 3, 2011 Super User Posted May 3, 2011 they're all made by pure fishing, so in sense they all share the same or extremely similar components. Not true. Poor "Incheon Basser" and "Marauder Yak" have beat their heads bloody trying to set the record strait on this fable. In short, many of these reels originate from the same OEM factory in Korea. Pure Fishing, BPS, Lews, and probably others work with the OEM to design the feature set for their reels - the reels are actually manufactured by the Korean OEM. Pure Fishing does NOT make these reels... Quote
hatrix Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I cant really comment on the tournament pro series but I did just buy the speed spool version after all my tackle was stolen and I must say it is a nice reel. Its super smooth casts great and I can comfortably palm it. I took the guys advice at my local tackle store after he convinced me you cant really get any better for under $100. I figured who else might know better then a guy who repairs broken reels all day long and lews came highly recommended from him. Quote
Dave P Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I'm a little surprised that TT gave it high marks since it doesn't cost as much as a small car Quote

Evans Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Can't say enough good things about the new Lew's reels! I went to the tackle store a few months ago wanting to get one of the basic speed spools, walked out with it and a Tournament Pro. So glad I made that decision. Also went out and bought another one of the Speed Spools and the Tournament reels. If you are thinking about giving one a try, I don't think you will be disappointed in the Tournament Pro. The Tournament and basic Speed Spools are great reels too, but the Tournament Pro is on a totally different level, it's definately worth the extra $$ in my opinion. My only complaint with the reels is the basic Speed Spool, it doesn't have the audible click on the drag and tension knobs. After using them, I don't think I really need it, but it's just nice to have and most reels in the below $100 price range has the feature. I haven't even utilized the centrifugal braking system on the Tournament and Tournament Pro reels, but it's nice to know it's there if I want to. Quote
